Seems like there's probably a setting he needs to change.

Though, in light of @iroal post - I am running MS's Launcher, Arrow, so I suppose that could be doing it as well.

I pulled my Nexus 6p out to see if I get the on icon numbers and I do.

I use BlueMail with my 365 account that shows a number of unread (not new) messages.

Yeah, I think it should be Unread instead of new. I have installed BlueMail, same thing, I can receive notifications (of course, I am receiving on MS Outlook), but no count on BlueMail too ?

You might not get an icon over the Outlook app, but you can definitely get a notice in the top bar.

Sorry, I didn't get you ? I was talking about new email counts you are seeing from above Picture (which is from Microsoft's Outlook App for iOS), and that feature lacks in Android version.

For notification, yeah that's fine, I believe almost all Apps will notify for any new email.

Right - I was offering an alternative - that instead of getting the red number over the app like your picture, that the icon in the notification tray at the top might serve the same purpose with Outlook on Android.

This notification is already working but it's not enough, looking for count option.

Try with Nova Laucher, It has the option to add count to any app.

So it's third party app to enable count but not email client app ?

In BlueMail click the "3" dots in the bottom left of screen.
                Goto "Global Settings"
                "Unread Count"
                "App badge Number"
check if the account is selected

Under "Unread Count" I have only option to reset the count if it's not working.

Maybe your phone doesn't allow it?

It seems odd to me that it would be a function of the Launcher that allows the unread app - but I say that out of complete ignorance of how things things function. Though in typing and re-reading that, the application doesn't manage the icons displayed on that screen itself, the launcher does - so.... this does make more sense.

So it very well my be that the launcher that is installed on the Android phone in question is preventing (or simply not capable of) this function.

@iroal mentioned Nova Launcher and I've mentioned Microsoft's Arrow Launcher as two different launchers that we know this functionality works in.

                          Yes.

It happens with a lot of Apps.

Oops, if that's the case, I will try with other Android phone.

Did you solve this? If not I've just updated my phone (well replaced) with a DooGee android phone and found non of the apps were showing no unread count.

Solution was to install Nova Launcher Prime and Telsa unread count. Now have the numbers showing on screen
