Veeam: All instances of the storage metadata are corrupted

@Mike-Davis I have not tried to restore any of the prior backups. I've have verified that I can access the latest one from earlier today.
The job was setup to maintain 14 days of backups. How do I access the ones that aren't visible in the GUI window?

Once you start the restore wizard, after you pick the VM, it should show you the restore points:

Ah... Ok. I originally ran it by clicking on today's backup and then clicking "Restore Files", which only showed files from that one restore point.
Tried opening one of the earlier restore points, but all I get is this error --

@Danp Are you running free vs paid? If it's free, check the logs and hope for the best.

Free -- Thankfully there's nothing that needs to be recovered at this time.

Not to be a Negative Nelly, and it sounds like this may not have been important data, but why would one use an unpaid, non-supported, backup solution? To me, while you may be saving a few pennies, the risks far outweigh the savings.

@pchiodo Because it's free? Seriously, I only became aware of their latest offering today while researching this issue.
This is a workstation. All important files are stored on the network. I'm unsure of the cost for their workstation license, but I'll definitely take a closer look...

It's decently cheap and integrates with the enterprise central console system. Are you using Veeam for other stuff or just this?

@Danp No worries - just asking the question. I wasn't sure if this was in a production setting, and if it was critical data. IMHO - If it's worth backing up, it's worth having a proper solution, and most proper solutions are paid solutions. Don't get me wrong, I like free solutions, especially for testing. Sounds like that was your plan.

No. Currently using XO to backup our VMs.

Gotcha, that'll lessen the value of the paid agent system.

well it is not that the free version is made to destroy your backups. it should just provide less functionality. and no support.

@matteo-nunziati Agreed, it should. In reality though, if this had been a production system with critical data, the free version would not have helped, but with the paid version, support may have been able to save their data.

You correctly start the restore process by right clicking on the taskbar icon.
Then you will be able to see all the restore points.

Thanks. I actually found the same thing by running File Level Restore from the Start Menu.
