Gaming - What's everyone playing / hosting / looking to play

I picked up FFXIV and they locked the server my friends play on. I can't even pay the $18 to transfer from another server. Severely limits the playerbase considering most people are going to want to play with their friends and expecting 20+ people to transfer servers is ridiculous in my opinion. That should not be required to play a game with people you know.

That's one thing that WoW started fixing a couple of expansions ago. Something I am glad they have done.

That's one thing that WoW started fixing a couple of expansions ago. Something I am glad they have done.
I'd really like to know what Blizzard had to do to make all the cross server improvements they did. It seems like an interesting story of what all was involved.

Seriously, y'all are welcome to join Ark on my server. By the standards of cost that have been set by FFXIFCWTFXM, it's cheap.

They are only alive because they have some of the most iconic characters in the history of gaming. Their console sucks

And mostly only iconic if you played them as a child. Take that away and I don't see new people getting them unless it's the "follow the crowd" effect. It's hipster to like some Nintendo stuff for kids today. But without that effect, I don't see anyone picking up these IPs and saying "wow, this is on par with other AAA games today." For those that played them for decades, of course they are iconic and nostalgic and you are continuing a tradition and it makes sense. But you don't see many teenagers finding them to be competitive with gameplay in other games, at least not that I've seen.
