Hardly relevant, there are a lot of these systems out there and they need to be serviced and replaced.

No, as shown by @Dashrender The other day the song cost of an existing system can still outweigh the cost of replacement

That's from a vendor that's still active and supporting their hardware. Would investing in technical debt from a vendor that has discontinued their line of devices and support, and the added risk of investing in it, make sense for @Dashrender (if he were using Toshiba for instance).

Quite possibly yes as with everything else and I think it comes down to math

I am fairly certain this is all phone systems not just Strata and Pots lines as has been mentioned in this post.. that would include the IP Edge which uses SIP and all the CIX systems which could use SIP, PRI, POTs etc..they are just throwing in the towel.. they never caught back up after IP systems took to the market and they decided to take a hybrid approach. We spent years waiting for the IP Edge to take on ShoreTel and the likes.. it was a major disappointment. It was just basically a CIX 100 turned sideways with a locking case that could fit in a rack.. nothing new.. it was majorly bandaided together with multiple software.. log-in menus.. still had emanager which was horrible. They had years of money and investment to develop a product and they just simply chose not to.

Song cost, eh?
Yes, the Sunk cost for me saved me about $12K over upgrading to FreePBX.

Well you've heard the impression "he got it for a song", right?
