@FATeknollogee
If I were you, I'd just spin up another cheap server and install email software. The equivalent of how cPanel handles email would be something like CentOS Web Panel or Vesta or even Webmin. Or go hard core and set it all up manually, install Postfix and a webmail client and spamassasin and antivirus and all the other tools needed to do email.Or go big time and install Zimbra or similar. Still free, and Postfix under the hood. But no need to go lean, you could have an enterprise email platform once doing that. I'm not recommending Zimbra over Office 365 or G Suite or anything like that, just compared to a bare bones system.

Forgot all about Zimbra.
I tried to set it up a couple years ago, failed miserably.

I have a guide that makes it quick and easy.

Wait, wasn't there a thread a few months back saying NOT to move web hosting off of wen hosting places like A2 and ASO?

Well both of those proved to be rather problematic as of late. Like this week.

Remember that this thread was focused on NextCloud and at least A2 doesn't allow that to be installed (even though THEY provide an installer for it!!)

Yes, but with quotes like ... "who is even hosting anymore" makes me wonder if it all shouldn't be moved over...

What was the context of that statement?

"Uhm.... VPS cost so little now, especially through the $2.50/month Vultr plan. Why would anyone consider shared hosting still?"
Plus you said you were moving all your stuff off of ASO.

Yes, did you see the thread about ASO problems? That one was just linked, it's over on SW. Major billing issues over there.
We aren't exactly normal, we do a ton of internal web hosting and have loads of skills for doing it. So the cost savings of moving off of ASO is likely worth it.

Moving to VPS is still hosted, you just have full control of the environment rather than being limited to what is available on a shared host.
Shared hosting and VPS are both hosted services, so not really dropping hosted services so much as utilizing different ones.

Downloading the 196MB file:
Vultr: 1 sec
A2: 1 min.reference: My FIOS connection is 150/150
How did you download 196 MB of data in 1 second? 150 Mbps, if my math is right, is ~18 MB/sec. Do you mean 10 seconds? Does FiOS do some sort of temporary bursting above your subscription rate? I'm merely curious.

No, it was 1 sec.
I clicked download & boom just like that the, download was complete! -

Even at 10 secs, it is/was way, way faster than the A2 service.

I don't know if you saw in the other thread but I found out today that A2 has all sorts of limits on the "unlimited" plan.
I bet you hit one and got throttled.
-
@BRRABill Yes, at the start of this thread we discussed A2's "lack" of speed.

Them having speed and them throttling specific users are different things, IMO.
