Anyone try SIS (Dedup) on Storage Server 2008 R2 with SCDPM 2016?

As the title asks, does anyone or do you know of anyone who has set up SC DPM 2016 using disk storage from a Windows Storage Server 2008 R2, set up using DPM 2016's MBS methods?
I am wondering about the dedup performance, if it's worth bothering with it before I try it with DPM 2016? I'm in the process of testing something similar to this:
Not exactly like that, but similarly in some areas. I'm just trying to save time by asking first.
I'll probably end up setting it up just to test as proof of concept, and may end up using the boxes as iSCSI targets in the end to save on licensing costs.
Not sure yet, just fishing.

We attempted dedup (straight dedup) on a share, and it caused corruption to the share.
Not sure if I'd trust windows dedup any more because of that..

That's a good point.
I've been using it in production on 2016, after testing it for a while first. It seemed fine later in 2012 R2. I have not used it in this way in 2008 R2, let alone Storage Server 2008 R2.
I may just leave it alone on there and weigh some other options.

I think I'll still test it for sake of thoroughness.
