So I'm a member of my local Toastmasters chapter. I have been thoroughly enjoying it so far. I gave my second speech today, and it went quite well. Today's meeting was a combination meeting of our group and one of the neighboring Toastmasters groups. I guess they do it once a year. I've been doing public speaking for over 15 years in front of 100+ crowds. I spoke at Spiceworld last year, where I was able to showcase my stuff to some of my, at the time, co-workers, such as @Dominica , @art_of_shred , @Minion-Queen , and @scottalanmiller . Well, today I'm giving a HUGE kudos to @Nic because I was trying to come up with a really good speech topic for today. I was talking to him on Monday I believe. He said just think of something I'm passionate about and go from there. It was simple but effective advice.

The title of my speech was "Giving Voice to Those that Have None". The speech's goal was to give people an understanding of what it's like to have a special needs child in the house. They normally have two or three speakers in a meeting. Today we had four. I was the second most junior speaker (from their perspective) of the group. Well, come end of the meeting, I was awarded the Best Speaker award! The first speaker was good, then me, the third was really quite good, and the fourth was kinda boring but a decent speaker. Because it's opinion-based, I honestly thought that the #3 speaker would have beat me out. Combine that with the fact I get tremors in my hands a lot, which doesn't portray confidence (even though I'm not nervous or scared in the least bit), and I was genuinely surprised.

At the end of the meeting, I had one of the DTMs, or Distinguished Toastmasters (someone who's gone through like 6 different manuals), tell me I would have been good at the international level with my speech. I was very proud of how it came out. It was also a bit surprised, because I was a fill-in for someone else. I found out by an email that showed an updated roster for today early this week. Lol

Anyways, just wanted to share in my little bit of happiness! Thanks!
