OneDrive brings new file collaboration and management features to the enterprise

Sounds like you can sync shared folders to the desktop now.
Today, we are enhancing OneDrive with the ability to sync SharePoint Online team sites—including files used inside Microsoft Teams, Office 365 Groups and OneDrive folders—shared by others across PC and Mac platforms. Now you can work with all your Office 365 files just as you would files stored on your PC or Mac—even when you are offline

@syko24 SharePoint team sites have always worked, but through the original ODfB app and not the new ODfB app that is just called OD.
Thanks to this disaster, I have 3 MS cloud icons on my desktop /sigh.
This one Syncs SharePoint
OneDrive for Business personal folder

Really what's the draw to OneDrive for Business? Is it the ability to modify OneDrive documents directly using Word or Excel? As NextCloud and LibreOffice keep improving, I see Microsoft losing a lot of customers in this space.
LibreOffice just released 5.3 which has new cloud functionality.

This is huge! What's the process for editing a file that's in OwnCloud with locally install Office?
As I understand it (I've never used ownCloud/NextCloud) either:
- install sync client and sync any file locally that you want to edit
- download the file using the web client, open with Word, edit, save, upload via webclient
- use WebDav to map a network share
1 allows for the easy propagation of cryptoware files to the server
2 is a huge pain in the rear
3 allows for crypto problems directly on the remote storage -

3 allows for crypto problems directly on the remote storage4 Install Collabora and just edit everything on the server, no sync or download. Also, no, I haven't gotten Collabora installed and integrated with NextCloud yet. Not enough time to go troubleshoot.

Sure, but that's not what was asked. He asked about using locally install Office apps.

Lower your threshold... Settle in at a nice and round 4.
