The ThinkPads generally have Ethernet, great reliability, great keyboard (+ clit mouse) and external battery (love that!).
The Thinkpads are Lenovo now right? General consensus around here is to avoid Lenovo.
I know about the malware stuff, but ThinkPads were unaffected and I'm sure Lenovo has the will to rebuild a sane reputation...

They may have the will... but they have to win back the customers they lost because of it.

@scottalanmiller yeah, hurting on the money side a little bit..
-
Take a look at refurbished laptops from Best Buy or even TigerDirect. You might be able to find something there that would work for you.
-
Don't buy new, look towards refurbs for certain.
-
He's found a few options around here.
-
Taking all reccomendations. Thanks soo much everyone!

They've had a pattern of acting the same way, and outright lie to their customers. You have to assume they're not completely contemptuous of their customer base, which they have proven to be.
If you have a Lenovo on your network, I thank you for giving me another network to do whatever I want with.... yes, it IS that bad.

But we've seen no indication of this and having a will does not fit their historical patterns.

We don't KNOW that they were unaffected. Only that they were not caught. It doesn't change the fact that you are letting the enemy in the door and saying "well they didn't get caught in this one case before so we'll do business with them anyway."

Yes they are, consensus everywhere is to avoid them.

Agree with XPS, the best screen that I've ever seen!
-
@WrCombs Oh, that will be hard. Dell can't match your price. I agree with the thought to look for refurbished machine. You search into Asus laptops, they are not expensive. This one, for example, fits your price: ASUS E200HA-UB02-GD The hardware is not outstanding but here you can work. Of course, if you don't work with DATAs, graphic or etc.
