I have an product I want to try that requires the use of an old version of MySQL.

I want to make sure I download it from a secure/trusted source.

      Thanks

@Dashrender Last time I looked it was available on the MySQL page. I see that is no longer the case. Wow. No clue where to go for that then.

Is the product no longer supported or made? How does the company recommend that it be deployed if it requires something that isn't available? Maybe they provide copies of it or know where to reliably get it?

Assuming it's for Windows you could try this: http://www.cao-wawi.de/download/mysql
I'm not suggesting I trust the source though. Have you looked into why it requires an older version and if you can modify the config of a newer on to work?

Finding it from an untrusted source should be easy. But with Oracle not supplying that old of a version and Linux distros not having distros for download that go that far back it is tough.

I'm looking to run the free version of PACSOne. The free version hasn't been updated since 2008 and indicates that it only runs on the old version of MySQL.

The paid version was updated just a few months ago, and has had continuous updates the whole time. I'm not sure why they don't provide a newer version of the free one.

What really grinds my gears is that they don't list the price on their website. It's it reasonable enough I'd just buy it.

@Dashrender Too bad it isn't Linux because you might be able to find an old distro that comes with a version that you need. Does it use it like it is embedded or can it use MySQL running on a separate system?
