On Saturday, a local brewpub is having an Oktoberfest celebration... A proper, German style lager on tap, lots of schnitzel
untund spaetzle, a guy with an accordion playing polka, and it's all you can eat and drink for $45. Should be quite a drunkening (just like last year and the year before).FTFY
Should I mention that I'm not a big fan of that bavarian stuff? Neven been on the Oktoberfest myself. There's a pretty large river going through Hamburg, one of the largest in Europe, the Elbe. We (who live in the nothern part) call it "Weißwurstgrenze": weisswurst border.
Another one is the "white sausage equator" at 49°N: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weißwurstäquator
Thanks for the correction, that's how I learn
We get very few options for any kind of German food here, so Bavarian stuff and weisswurst are just dandy with me. Besides, the restaurant I'm going to has a very nice looking staff who look great in those tight Bavarian outfits

Good enough Let's just say that not every German wears a Lederhose (leather pants) or a Dirndl or eats Sauerkraut all day long (in fact, I had exactly this today :p)

As one who lived in Munich for about 8 years, Octoberfest is awesome.

I'm not saying it's bad, but it's pretty much about commerce. And I won't stop you if you like to pay such prices in a place that's so crowded with people that you can barely take a breath:
"Mass Bier" - 10,40 to 10,70 EUR
Coke - 9,27 EURSources: http://www.oktoberfest2016.de/bierpreise.htm, http://www.oktoberfest.de/de/article/Aktuell/Meldungen/Die+offiziellen+Bierpreise+2016/4606/

Yeah, that's pricey. Lived there before the wall fell and exchange rates with the DM were great.

The place I'm going won't be super crowded and has $3 pints (or a nice price on all you can drink). I'll be damned if I'll ever pay 9 Euro for a soda.

Yeah, hehe, said something similar before: I'll be damned if I ever pay 2,50 DM for 1L of lead free gas. 1,25 EUR right now, pretty close to 2,50 DM...

This weekend will be filled with binge watching... Luke Cage, new South Park episodes, and maybe finish up rewatching Deadwood.
-
@RojoLoco I'm watching the new season of Longmire this weekend!
