Seize ownership of a network folder - Dumb people

So at some point, someone decided to copy a Users Desktop from their old computer, to a network share for backup purposes.

They refused to allow the system access (domain admins / EE) access to it for whatever reason.

Now I (nor anyone else can access it, local admins / domain admin account etc).

Any way I can seize ownership of this folder so I can get rid of it?

Can you log in as the dumbass user?

Change ownership on the properties -> security -> advanced tab?

Assuming Windows and NTFS right?

You should be able to break the permissions, right click folder, properties, security, jump through a few menus, eventually you'll get something that looks like this:

Log into the file server in question and take ownership.

You should be able to make yourself owner, then change the permissions. It will warn you about breaking permissions before you do it.

There we go, took a few tries, the permissions weren't taking hold.

If you just want to delete it, you could try a file shredder program.

Just deleting the contents, its 2 years old, and the user didn't even knew it existed and hasn't accessed it.
