way too late, it's the year 3 AS (After Snowden, not mentioning Miss Menning or Wikileaks here) and no one learned from that

That's just insane, to have to keep metadata for 3 years and content of online communications for 6 Months!

Yeah, so long to any private ISP's in Russia. It'll all be government run.

I think that you will find that the US gave Russia ideas.

I feel like this may be the point.

No doubt, I just thought it was a fun title.

Kind of in the same ballpark ... does anyone use a personal VPN for accessing the Internet?

When at a public hot spot, yes. It goes to my VPS that doesn't get used for much otherwise, so it's not like I'm getting around other types of tracking. I'm just preventing everyone else on the local network from logging into sites as me.

Haha this stuff is so crazy.

Russia & USA: "No, no no. You don't have rights. No, you REALLY don't have rights. Prepare to have your privacy openly invaded."

I was considering using one just to get less data on me collected.

Therre are a bunch out there.

Yep. To achieve that you'll need to use one of them. When you're the only one using the VPN, it's kinda obvious who it is.

Yeah the ones I was looking at seem to thrive on anonymity. Even going as far as accepting store gift cards for payment and not logging anything on their side.
