What's weird is - where did that icon even come from? Since we are now only using local avatars on ML, where did ML get that avatar to begin with?
The sideways G is the "Gravatar Generic" for when no avatar exists. The letters are NodeBB defaults for when none exists.
But why would anyone have a gravatar generic on here now? UNless they intentionally uploaded it.

Although the avatar in question is coming from Gravatar, not from the CDN. I'm not sure if you can specify a URL for your avatar or not. If you can, I don't know how it is done

Oh wait, there it is. There is a URL option for the avatar. I suspect that that is what it is.

Looking at the page source, it looks like the image is being pulled directly, not being called through Gravatar.
