Xen Orchestra vs Xen Orchestra Appliance
-
@olivier do you mind if "we" (the world as a whole) starts referring to XO (from the sources) as XOS
Xen Orchestra Source
As an easy way to abbreviate the names and eliminate the confusion of someone talking about XOA when they actually mean Xen Orchestra (source built)
-
For me, it's mainly XO when talking about sources, XOA the appliance. But XOS if you like, it doesn't matter

Is that like Xen vs XenServer - one is a project of Linux from source, the other is a package from Citrix, now owned and managed by Linux Foundation.

Now that it has transitioned, XenServer isn't from Citrix but is from the LF. It's a reference implementation of Xen. Citrix also provides it and provides hosting for its repos but XS comes from Linux.

Xen is purely LF, but also the toolstack which made XenServer what it is. Eg, XAPI is also a LF project
So +1 from the Scott's comment.
