Every backpack that I have was free. Mostly I was Spiceworks ones from conferences and one Teksystems one from Christmas 2004 that was dropped off at a consulting gig for me.

Yeah I'm content with a $20 backpack.
What makes that one, or any backpack worth more?
$348 to be precise. You guys are not married, are you?
LOL, you know I am - and sure, she has a purse that was a few hundred by some designer...
But I didn't notice a designer name.. is there one? and again, what makes that bag special? It looks actually quite the opposite, very plain, to me. -

The inside also has a label pointing to http://www.waxedcotton.com/

Plain doesn't mean that it doesn't have a "name" that makes it the trendy thing to have and spend way too much on, and just because all of your backpacks are free doesn't mean your wife uses them. Hey @scottalanmiller , does "Vera Bradley" ring a bell?

oh gods, that name... Even my kids have multiple Vera Bradley bags already and they are 5 and 7.

Oh I agree - never said plain doesn't mean no name. But is a nobody made that exact same backpack it would sell for $40 and no one would buy it.... but because some designer that the fashion industry gives credit to put their name on it... suddenly that $40 bag is worth $350... But hey.. if people are willing to pay.. who am I to care.
-
@Dashrender remember, the "value" of any item is precisely what some person is willing to pay for said item. If you can get people in general to recognize a name as something to be desired, there you go... clearance at WM to $350 "designer" because people are sheep. And good old Jack Spade laughs all the way to the bank.

My wallet cares. Thankfully, my wife buys almost exclusively on sales and such.

So does mine - hence I don't buy those things - but I'll admit that I buy equally overpriced stuff because it has different labels on it..

Yeah his labels are things like Marshall, Jackson, PRS...

Mine are things like "Goodwill".

I think that I might actually be at a point where all of my shirts are either NTG corporate tee shirts or Goodwill button downs.

I don't really have any. I don't collect swag when I'm there.

I shop for clothes once a year under protest; usually at the behest of one of the ladies in my life.

Haha... this is pretty much how it goes for me... I generally come home and there are new work clothes on the bed waiting for me to try on.
