Thanks @JaredBusch .. I'll look at that.. I was probably looking at Linux servers so I can run Joomla. I suck at websites, but want to start playing again with it.

You mean like this?

@smartkid808 been a while! Great to see you around.
BTW - I plan to be out your way in the spring of 2017, so we need to do some drinking!!

We've been using A Small Orange and have been quite happy with them. If you see us mention them, they are often just called ASO.
-
@JaredBusch Yes like that.. Ill take a look. From what I see, its very limited.
@scottalanmiller wow you know your coming that far in advance? Any special projects you will be here for? What island will you be on?
A Small Orange looks pretty good. Decently priced to. Nice that it has unlimited domains, to host multiple sites like I wanted. I wanted cheap, cuz who knows if I'll keep actively working on them. How long have you been using them? -

I'm there to watch my nieces do marching band stuff.

Not sure how long we have been using them. Nearly a year, I would guess. All of our testing with them was posted in the community somewhere.

@scottalanmiller Cool.. 2017 seems so far away.. lol.. hopefully I am still here.. not sure what I will be doing.. Been trying to find a new job.
I'll look at the post you made.

Seems that way but we know where we will be nearly every moment until then. We plan to leave the islands to go to China for vacation too. From there we plan to move to New Zealand where we hope to be living for most of 2017.

Both Arvixe and ASO look like they offer mostly the same things. Arvixe gives me unlimited space while ASO is 5GB. Arvixe is a little cheaper using SpiceWorks discount (and there is another discount that drops the price to $3.20 a month).
@scottalanmiller have you used ASO support? If so how was it?
Since Arvixe seems to have gone to crap since the beginning of this year after being bought out by EIG, looks like I will strongly look at ASO. Not sure if that is true or not, as I see ASO is owned by EIG (taken from link in your original post). IDK, hard to trust some of these reviews as they want the world for nothing.

We are full time homeless wandering vagabonds. We've been "on the move" since March in some ways and December in others. It was in December, 2014 that we packed up and left our home behind. We moved from NY to Texas to prepare for moving abroad while living with family. By March we were in Spain.

Why isn't Digital Ocean on this list?

They are not a web hoster. And they don't offer shared hosting. So didn't seem applicable.
-
@scottalanmiller Yours and ASO logo looks so similar.. haha.. Yours a Mango, and theirs an Orange.. haha Both Orange, so I keep clicking on the wrong tab.. haha.
-
@scottalanmiller Just curious, is mangolassi hosting with ASO?

No, ML does not run on a web server and cannot be hosted via web hosting. ML is on NodeBB which itself is a web server. So there is no way to install it on a LAMP stack.
We'd also crush what ASO offers for hosting too. This is a pretty intensive site

Currently looks like it between Arvixe and A Small Orange as recommended by SAM.. But leaning towards ASO.
Just wish ASO had unlimited space like Arvixe.. lol.. I guess if needed I could upgrade plan. 5GB I think should be enough, only reason I was high on GoDaddy was due to throwing up ISOs or big files for people to grab.
Even in SW there is a bigger following on ASO vs Arvixe..
Price is about the same, I can get Arvixe slightly cheaper, but just worried about them as a co. with the bad reviews lately. -
ASO is currently $3.75 / mo when you use the promo code "SPOOKY", which may be expiring today.
