RE: Solar Zeppelins and a Floating Cloud City on Venus says NASA
LOL..I am still giggling over the Enterprise project...I want to believe, but it seems nothing awesome has happened since the moon landing. Yeah...we have a "space station" and a martian robot.
Coolest thing is the rocket landing on the comet/meteor thing.
I also want my flying car, and Mars colony and vacation in the awesome space stations they showed us in the 70's!

RE: Microsoft shutters Office 365's free web site service

Thanks for the one week notice, Microsoft.
That is really bad. I understand axing something, but giving less than 2 weeks notice is crazy
Ah....but as said in the article: Microsoft will keep existing sites alive for two years, and Office 365 customers “will have the option to subscribe to third-party solutions by using links from Office 365.”

Webroot is way easier to manage! It is amazing how much simpler it is. InTune is unnecessarily complicated.
Using the beta at the moment and was surprised to find it did more than protect and remove malware.

Rolling out Webroot to replace Microsoft InTune.
I thought you were a fan of InTune.

RE: Windows Repair All in One
I have checked and all services that should be running are running. Everything the residential customer was complaining about is now working correctly. I have advised the client that if any other issues come up re: Windows services not running that we will need to backup the PC and re-install Windows and all programs plus updates.
And although I have used the program I asked about in the past, I didn't try it this time as things seem to be square at the moment.

RE: Windows Repair All in One
According to my googlefu:
IF>Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log %WinDir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.
THEN>To repair the corrupted files manually, view details of the System File Checker process to find the corrupted file, and then manually replace the corrupted file with a known good copy of the file.
So I checked the log file and there is nothing to manually fix.

RE: Windows Repair All in One
@thanksaj ...when you click normal startup the apply button stays greyed out. Windows 8.1 u1

RE: Vacation Support
Yikes @scottalanmiller, sorry to hear that! I hope it's not too serious and she feels better soon!

RE: Windows Repair All in One
@thanksaj Damn...I got excited, but no that's not checked!
Ok...so I sfc is done and it says: Windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them...Bah!

RE: Windows Repair All in One
I ran chkdsk overnight and there is no issues according to the log file. The browsers are connecting to the internet at this time. I had to do Windows updates, it seems that some of the items that System Restore said would be affected, have been affected even though System Restore claimed to have failed.
I used msconfig to see if the services had been turned off and found that Selective startup was already in play. I changed to normal and rebooted. I checked again and it still is set for Selective startup. So now running sfc /scannow to check for errors.

Windows Repair All in One
Has anyone used the Windows Repair All in One tool before?
I know most would suggest re-installation but at the moment that is not an option.
The PC couldn't access the internet via any browser, but had no malware or viruses, nor could I find issues with the drive via Seatools.
Attempted system restore but failed because of a Windows service not running. Customer said she saw a message that said that too. Tried Chdsk /r but stalled at 10% for 30 minutes.
Now that I have checked everything else it's time to run Chdsk again.

RE: Windows 10 and OneDrive
My Windows 10 TP machine is also experiencing OneDrive issues, specifically the inability for OneDrive to actually sync up. Weird thing is that the folder actually has all the correct files, but there have been errors showing for a month.

RE: Chrome devs hatch plan to mark all HTTP traffic insecure
@Dashrender After the first of the year, I will be educating and encouraging all of our internet marketing clients to move to SSL.
I believe that this will also be a good time to offer our other services like backup and updates as well as encouraging all owners to get a Goggle and Bing webmasters account.
I depends on the platform on what will break but it appears that there isn't too much to "fix" on WordPress.

RE: Looking for opinion on this laptop
I built PCs for my kids from leftover parts in 2003 for Christmas. I told them if they got virus and malware from downloading music illegally, they would have to re install Windows.
My youngest son came to me a week later and asked for the Windows XP CD and if I would walk him through the process.

I presume the 3 options here are what you see at 1&1 domain panel? No worries...just find a new registrar and use that new registrar to transfer your domain.
Worry about pointing dns until after domain is transferred to new domain registrar.
Why transfer the domain at all, unless he's unhappy with 1&1 as a registrar.
Why indeed...I presume I felt as he was bailing from 1&1 completely....so if not...the above not necessary. @IRJ will just need to update the nameservers to point to his new host or do as @scottalanmiller said.
