It seems like they've changed a bunch recently. I think they found a niche, I haven't found anyone that does storage as a service quite like they do. We're 25+ sites with under 15 TB of active data, so we're right on the edge of enterprise SLA requirements and SMB budgets.

RE: Leaving Dell
We're still Dell. We've seen their customer support (specifically the dispatch tech companies they contract through) drop in quality, but their support site and part replacement process is the best in the industry, IMO. We've always had good experiences with their hardware. I was HP in my last job and we had a mix of consumer devices and servers/SANs. The MSA series SAN is crap, but the rest of their hardware is very good. Because both companies are close to equal for me, I don't know if it's worth a giant effort to migrate over to HP, but if your current experience is terrible you may have better luck over the fence.

Nasuni
Does anyone have much experience with Nasuni over several WAN links? I saw over in SW that SAM used to do some consulting for them years ago, maybe you still keep in touch?
We're in the market for a centralized cloud copy provider. We use Autodesk Vault for CAD, so this would be for the 'small stuff', GIS, Office docs, etc... We're leaning between Nasuni and Panzura. Panzura used to be the cheaper option, but with Nasuni's simple Storage as a Service payment model we can very accurately calculate our costs for both implementation and ongoing. They gave us a huge break on our VM appliances so we're really only paying per TB. ($3,750/TB/Year)
Without having any experience with Panzura, it seems wholly complicated and more messy than Nasuni and holds more convoluted costs. We've been trialing Nasuni now for several months. Can anyone speak to what Nasuni does very well and not so well when compared to Panzura?
Thanks!

RE: InfoWorld on 2015 in Security
I know a few folks in law enforcement and they love Tor. Nothing is a better honeypot than a false sense of security.

RE: What's your secret gaming shame?
On mobile I'm an avid Clasher (clash of clans).
On the PC I've been killing time on Rocket League. Super simple premise that has an extremely high skill ceiling. It's matchmaking accuracy and sub-10 second queue times keep me coming back. -
RE: Anyone decided to buy Surface book?
It's interesting that they're so verbal about it being a Macbook competitor, but I understand it because the Mac market is that giant piggy bank that PC vendors want to bust open. I see it more as being a Helix, or a HP Spectre x360, competitor. Powerful, full of ports, detachable. The discrete graphics in the base is very cool. If you have that base the battery life will shoot down to the 4 hour range.
I think MS is really hitting a niche market here. I've conducted heavy trials with 4 other hybrid machines and each one had its flaws; you have to pick your two most important features and sacrifice the rest. This one, even at its price-point, could take the cake.

RE: If you are new drop in say hello and introduce yourself please!
Thanks, happy to be here! And for the record, this is the most un-Googlable site on Earth, lol, unless of course you want yogurt.
