RE: Reliable All-in-Ones?
Oxymoron quite possibly, but recently had a run in with an HP Photosmart 6520 that won't even see the broadcast SSID or accept the manually supplied SSID and WPA key.
Everyone has a different printer was hoping to find something bulky enough to cut out the majority of the "personal" printers and give the salesman the functionality they need. I think @Minion-Queen delivered.

RE: How do you stay organized
OneNote.. How did I survive without?
I still struggle with the written/quick notes and jotting down things that don't make sense out of context later on. I am horrible about using Spiceworks to track all tickets as so many things are done on the fly and even away from my desk it takes too long to create a ticket instead of scribbling on a notepad and throwing it away later. I have contemplated scanning said notepad into my tickets but it all just becomes too bulky.
OneNote and Outlook Calender keeps me organized enough to deal with my workload, other then that it's good intentions that I don't have time for.

I currently have a Brother MFC-9970CDW which I love. It is a networked all in one. Very easy to network and setup (the software is very easy to use to setup the network etc.). You have the ability to close up the auto feeder for the scanner copier so very little dust will get in there. I can set it up to scan to my desktop from the printer,or to usb, email or a even a server or from software on my desktop.
I have had this for a little over a year and have had no issues at all with it.
That is a sweet piece of hardware you got there! The initial price point might scare my supervisors.
Exactly what I had in mind though!

Reliable All-in-Ones?
Guys/Gals,
What are some reliable network all-in-one printer/fax/copier models? A black and white is typical in most locations but a color model would also be welcomed.
The machines will be used in an office setting of a warehouse so they will be exposed to quite a bit of dust and grime. Users per site range from 3-4 to 10-15, currently using a multitude of smaller printers.
They also love WiFi printing to all ends, but the residential ink sponges they bought at OfficeDepot as they needed them are just a pain to support. I wasn't around when all this was purchased, trying to make smarter purchases moving forward.
Things such as ease of use, duty cycle (20k+), networking ease, etc. I have to walk non-technical guys through setting these up.
I appreciate any feedback, do you guys have any obvious choices that come to mind?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: What do you do at your Corporate offices for multiple users? We have way too many small printers on desks. The big all-in-ones they have they under utilize and can't do things such as scan to email.

RE: Disabling External Ping, VPN drops.
Hey guys, thanks for the great info! My RDP is locked down and we use remote software instead.

Disabling External Ping, VPN drops.
Guys,
I am trying to sure up my networks by disabling external pinging on my routers. With the end goal of security, and stopping the constant stream of login attempts against my routers. It worked, but then issues started happening..
Since I have put these changes in place we have had periods of 2-3 minutes where the VPN drops out very randomly. Reading more onto the issue I see that it's a problem with PathMTU not being negotiated and the IKE VPN dropping. Most of this information appears to be 4-5 years old, suggesting to lower the MTU to 1400 to resolve.
Am I wasting my time, what is best practice to stop the login attempts against my routers? Considering disabling remote management altogether.

RE: Interns
These might be silly questions but is this meant to be a full time position and local? Or a remote "after hours" ordeal?
Sounds like a great opportunity to learn and tinker! Best of luck.

RE: What would it take to get your boss to move to office 365?
@scottalanmiller Yep we use MXLogic for inbound/outbound filtering. This is just another cost to offload if we moved to O365.

RE: Energy of Choice?
Redbull Sugarfree
I save them for a rough day, after I drink one I feel it through part of the next day. I use to able to drink a monster and just go to bed, not anymore. I try to stay away from everything and drink water.
Edit: Never liked coffee.

RE: What would it take to get your boss to move to office 365?
My company is considering paying an outside consultant they've used for years to upgrade their Exchange server. I will need to learn more about 365 before challenging such a proposal.
Long story for company politics, but I am still new to the grand scheme of things with this company. Price is everything and functionality is secondary. Oh and they are scared of the word cloud as this consultant seems to be overly cautious in any sort of cloud-based service/program. He even advised against using Teamviewer/LogMeIn to create support sessions on rare occasions.
Good news is they don't make decisions quickly at all so I should have time to learn the necessary information and advise appropriately. Any elementary quick breakdowns for me? I appreciate it.
What would it take my boss? A hell of a speech and a price sheet to back it up. He glazes over 30 seconds into explaining the improvements of anything from my experience.

RE: Cold Call, ISP Surveys?
Thanks for the advice guys, I guess my new role in a much larger company is making me a target for much more of these vendor calls than my previous position.
@scottalanmiller True, I meant in a malicious manner

Cold Call, ISP Surveys?
I just received a cold call from a "Survey Sampling International" doing a survey on behalf of "Marketplace Analyst" over what type of internet connections and speed my company has and our overall satisfaction of the services. Has anyone received such a call?
I started taking down his information and was going to return a call on my own time if it turned out to be a credible source. The gentleman did not have a direct callback number or a direct e-mail I could get back in touch with him through. It sounded like a call center and might have been legit but I was not looking to disclose any unnecessary information out of the blue. I kindly asked him to not call back as I don't feel comfortable releasing any information to a source I can not readily contact in the future.
I received an identical phone call about a month ago and disclosed a small amount of choice information but the depth of questions he got to as in our type of phone system, etc. I became uncomfortable and ended the call quite early on.
So what's your experiences, what you dealt with this stuff? Is this purely a phishing/social engineering call?
