Mixing down a recently unearthed live show by my old reggae band. 4 whole sets, apparently no rhythm guitar, but we did have a trumpet player/percussionist and 2 wacky room mics.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
So... Dell calls me the other day about one of our servers potentially having defective RAM. I go to the data center today to pick up the parts.... 1 big box with 24 smaller boxes inside... Each small box contained only 1 stick of RAM!!!! Leaving 3 empty slots per box!!! They only gave me 9 return labels, which makes no sense. I only need 6 boxes to return everything.

Today I begin the recovery from my rotator cuff surgery I had this morning. Today is mostly my wife sterning telling me to sit down and stop doing stuff... I'm way more restless than normal. ug.
You can do stuff... Just not things that aggravate your rotator cuff, lol.
lol, the reality is that most movement involves moving the shoulder, even if it's just the tiniest amount.. which of course aggravates the rotator...
Don't tell me that... One of my shoulders has been extra hurty the last few months.

Getting ready to head up to the mountains to see some friends. Their annual post-turkey day gathering is known as "orphans and leftovers".

RE: Weekend Plans
I'm about to go start swapping long network cables for short ones. Obviously I should do it since I was the one who provided the correct lengths and quantities to buy before we started the project.

Too many to quote using the phone,.. thanks.
so- now it is a bit bitter sweet as I may very well lose all of my accrued PTO,..94 hours.
Will have to see
Dunno about your state, but every state I have dealt with, accrued means it is earned and is 100% required to be paid out.
For those in Ohio, the employer must have a written policy stating under what conditions accrued PTO will not be paid.
And there’s the ‘rub’ of course.
While I live and work in Kentucky, the company that pays me is in Ohio…. And yes- it’s in the Employee handbook. So it’s very very likely that I’ll get screwed out of it.
Even though I am only partly to blame here.
- Because I get it done, it’s given to me
- because I close the most tickets, it’s given to me
- because it had to be done and there isn’t anyone else here to do it, it’s given to me
- because Jake hole didn’t finish it, I have to.
- because “I trust you to get it done”,…
- because he’s a lazy f*
… - because this is how’s it’s been.
*This is the way.

We have a local facility that will shred drives for $5.
Same here. They are coming next week to remove some old, Dinosaur age storage boxes... which have MANY drives in each. Worth it every time.

RE: RojoLoco gets a new kitchen....
LATEST NEWS:
We have started moving all the kitchen stuff back into the kitchen finally! I have even cooked 2 meals in the new digs, and WOW did that show me how rusty I am at cooking.
The final touches that still need to be done:
- Install 1 new pantry door to replace the damaged one (worker dropped it)
- Install handles on all the pantry doors
- Install light fixtures and fan
- Touch up some spots on the trim
Video walk-through coming soon!

RE: Weekend Plans
Just got back from the datacenter, had to add on 2 more PDUs for the new pair of 30 amp circuits. And I'll be back in the morning to start balancing out the power load.

Good morning all... I'm testing out one of those mushroom based "coffee alternative" beverages. Well, this one has a little bit of cold brew extract (?). Tastes pretty good, but a bit on the weak side. Like a mocha with less espresso and more milk. I will report back on the effects.
weird. what's the purpose of the alternative in this case? No caffeine? More caffeine? Alternative energy source?
It has a little caffeine in it, the rest of it is supposed to supercharge how your body uses it. Pretty good energy boost, but it leaves me wanting in the flavor department, so I made a pot of coffee anyway. But the mushroom stuff gives me WAY more energy and focus than the same 5-6oz of coffee does.
What's it called, and how does it price check against coffee?
This one is called Everyday Dose, they have a 7 day trial for $5 shipping. Looks like it's about $1.33 per day (1 per day), of course, it's a subscription model. Worth a try if caffeine doesn't always do the trick.

RE: Random Thread - Anything Goes
@PhlipElder I haven't seen too many deer this year, but the coyotes keep sounding closer and closer...

RE: Random Thread - Anything Goes
@PhlipElder closest call I had in FL was nearly stepping on a HUGE rattlesnake on a golf course... luckily, he was in the process of eating a toad that was the size of a cantaloupe.

RE: Random Thread - Anything Goes
@nadnerB can confirm, I lived in Florida for about 6 years.

What's going into the space where the kitchen used to be?
looks like some cabinets, anything else?
At one end is a huge pantry, not a walk-in but still quite spacious. The old exterior wall is now a knee wall with the sink on the new side. The rest is just some extra space in front of the laundry, which is really nice.
I should do a walk through video so it makes sense.

RE: RojoLoco gets a new kitchen....
UPDATE: We now have a sink, a dishwasher, and the running water they need! The funny part is we can start moving back into our kitchen, but the cabinets and drawers don't yet have handles... been waiting on those to arrive for about a week. And most of the doors and drawers aren't especially easy to grab by the edge to open them.

RE: RojoLoco gets a new kitchen....
@Obsolesce that's just poor cropping on my part. But the ruler could be handy for measuring the size of crystalline formations in the granite...

Just talked to the contractor, we are on schedule for granite countertop installation Monday!!! Which means we are looking at maybe Wednesday to start moving back into the kitchen!
Also, stand by for photo dump...
Any particular reason why you picked granite or was it the look that settled it?
Granite is really durable, my girlfriend bakes a lot, and it grows wild in the mountains north of here. So price and availability play into that as well. We looked at some quartz (cultured), it was nice but was only available in different shades of white. The color we're getting is a nice cool gray and white, called "Luna Pearl".
Makes sense!
My preference is stainless steel, like commercial kitchens usually have, but granite is a great choice, especially for baking.
Kitchen looks great so far BTW!
I thought about stainless but didn't price it. A friend who is an exec chef told me not to, so did my contractor. I guess in this area it's not as in demand when buying a house, that's always a consideration.
