@Dashrender said in Windows 10 File Explorer Problems:

I doubt it, but I'll toss out DNS - what is he using?

Does he have any static DNS entries?

What happens if you manually kill the network folder in my computer? Or is it already gone?

Does the IP or name of the network share show up anywhere in the registry?

So I found and entry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Network/ for the mapped drive! If I delete this entry it shouldn't do any harm to the system right?

Logically I should be able to do a registry key export for the entry, delete it in the registry, and test to see if it clears up the issue?

    • SIP Phone registers no audio...

I've got a really strange situation that I'm wracking my brain over.

I have a Yealink T23G SIP phone registering with our FreePBX server from the UK via an OpenVPN connection.

      • NAT is enabled and the phone can successfully register with the PBX
      • The VPN is successfully connected
      • All UDP, no TCP ports in use or configured.

I get no audio when calls are placed or received on the phone.

Before making it's trip overseas I tested the phone and it worked here on multiple networks outside of our LAN. I have another T23G setup here for testing purposes and configured the same as the phone I sent with my end user overseas. It works as expected.

      WHAT AM I MISSING?

This behavior is indicative of RTP port range being blocked, but since everything is being tunneled through a VPN that shouldn't be the case right?

    • RE: Lightweight Linux...

Personally, I still don't get the favoritism between desktops. If I can accomplish a task without touching my mouse I'm happy. Most of what I do when I'm working from a Linux OS is done and accomplished in a terminal.realistically, all I really feel like I need is a terminal, a functioning web browser, and Libre Office on occasion.

What the GUI wrapper looks like honestly doesn't concern me all that much. The less a GUI gets in the way, the happier I am with it. I think this is why I really don't have a problem with Ubuntu's default UI for their desktop distro. I hide the Unity dock/panel and it's clean and out of the way. It's also why I like LXDE. It doesn't get in the way and doesn't consume much in regards to resources.

Are you monitoring the /var/log/secure file as you are trying to connect? Have you tried connecting to the freepbx IP instead of hostname?

What does your sshd_config file look like? Is root allowed? Have you restarted the ssh server since you made the last changes to the config file?

I blame CompTIA and their trifecta of terror. You can easily complete the three pluses without ever having to interact with a database. And everyone knows, if you have your A+, Network+, and Security+ you're immediately qualified to do any job that rests under the IT umbrella.

@IRJ said in What router are you using at home?:

I am looking to upgrade my router. I am looking at ASUS routers which seem really nice, but there are alot of competitors in the same price range. what are you using?

      https://www.asus.com/Networking/RTAC68P/

$179 on Amazon, pretty average for a decent consumer wireless router with full AC.

You cannot touch that price with Ubiqiti and full AC speed because you would need the Unifi UAP-AC-Pro to get full AC rate.

The ERX ($72.85 with Prime) and UAP-AC-LITE ($75.49 with Prime) work great for most but it is only like 800mbps on the AC band.

Edit: I was wrong the UAP-AC-PRO is $128.99 on Prime.

So the full speed is $201.84, that is only $25 more than the ASUS.

      +1 to this recommendation

My new google fiber provided hardware replaced my old setup that was an ERX and an 802.11n Ubiquiti AP. I plan on putting my ERX back in service in the not so distant future to provide a proper DMZ for my lab.

If I were buying new right now I would go with the @JaredBusch and @Dashrender 's suggestions of the ERX and AC-Pro or Lite.

    • RE: What Linux Are You Running

I have no clue how many non-Unix boxes we have here... I avoid anything Microsoft related and make sure I give disapproving glares to all the Windows Admins in meetings. I'm sure we have thousands of MacBooks floating around in the wild and probably 2/3 that number of Windows laptops.

    • RE: What Linux Are You Running

@stacksofplates The problem is never their code, it is always insufficient resources. More hardware(or vms/containers) is always the solution!

We try to design things small and scale upward in a distributed fashion as demand increases. If a pair of servers can't cope we spin another up and add it to the load balancer. We've got load balancers, message queues, and distributed databases in every nook and cranny.

    • RE: Attempting to increase the size of a Linux LVM Disk

If you're wanting to add this to an already existing logical volume you don't need to do anything with the file system at first. You need to add the new physical volume to the volume group that your existing logical volume is on. Once that physical volume has been added to the volume group you can extend the logical volume and increase it's size. At that point you can grow the file system to occupy the newly allocated space.

Here's an article that should help walk you through the process if you're not familiar: http://www.tecmint.com/extend-and-reduce-lvms-in-linux/

    • RE: Attempting to increase the size of a Linux LVM Disk

@wirestyle22 said in Attempting to increase the size of a Linux LVM Disk:

The question now is how to add the VFree space to dev/mapper/centos-root

So if you do a vgs command it should show your volume group with your newly increased capacity. When you do a lvs it should show your logical volumes (probably root and swap). You'll want to do a lvextend on your root logical volume to add the newly allocated space on the volume group to that logical volume.

The article I linked you previously should give a good example of that command. Google-fu will result in some official redhat documentation that will do a good job of walking you through it too.

Once you've extended your logical volume you'll just need to expand the filesystem to occupy the space. After that you should be all set.

    • RE: CentOS rsync between servers using keyfile to pass credentials

You could create a user on each system, specific to this task; and give that user restricted passwordless sudo access to only run the specific rsync command you need to have run.

Throw your rsync command in a script and restrict your user's passwordless sudo access to running that specific script. Et voila! Authentication issues resolved.

I think this can help point you in the right direction: https://serverfault.com/questions/596940/sudoers-nopasswd-how-to-grant-access-to-a-specific-ln-command
