@dustinb3403 said in Checking multiple Directories to confirm all files are identical:

In a windows environment if you wanted to check multiple network directories, with millions of files ranging in sizes from tiny (a few KB) to large 4GB+ how would you do it.

If you need to search files on a server over network share, on the server you should install the windows search feature, and ensure the shared files and locations are indexed. That will greatly speed up the searching via Win10 computers.

Also bullet points should be concise, not full sentences. See the above example. Use the section descriptor to explain the bullet list if you must.

      I disagree

Good for you, you've never seen a bullet point list. If you're writing complete sentences as bullet points you're doing something wrong.

Where is your evidence to back up your claim that bullet points should never be full sentences or longer sentence fragments and should never end with a period? I have found lots that say otherwise, however.

Show me the proof you have that bulleted listed should exclusively be sentences.

Show me the proof you have to back up your claim that bullet points should only be one word

I never said ONE Word, I said concise. Learn to read dipshit.

Exactly my point. So stop with that bullshit. I will not fall into your fallacy trap.

Which M1 device did you get? MacBook pro 13"?

Once again, stepping into the role of Network Admin. I'm curious to know what are the new ideas / tools of today or is the daily tasks still the same. Any resources are welcome. Whenever I do a job, I'm passionate about it and would like to show my best.

What are some great free tools out there? What are some bare necessity tools you think an Admin for today's network world should have in their bag of network weapons?

Thank you for your time, input and tips,
      Mr. Wright.

Are you asking us how to do your new job?

I have met dozens of companies in my country (few, banks, few ISPs), and I do not know of single one that uses Linux for their desktops or laptops.

That's what's being discussed, who is using a Linux Desktop - few as we've discussed repeatedly.

Besides me and my family, I can't think of anyone that uses Linux on their desktops or laptops.
Even I still use Windows most of time (becuase of Excel and few other great apps I miss on Linux)

I don't know that I would call Excel a great app. IMO it's mediocre at, while I agree it has some features other spreadsheet solutions are adding these too.

Server installations are different story, of course

Yeah, even Microsoft says that Linux servers are deployed more than any other OS in Azure. I'm certain AWS, Alibaba etc are all the same.

      (sorry for late reply)

      No worries.

Did you know that you could have kept this thread cleaner and more readable, increased your post count more, and made it easier to reply to if you would have split your post into like 10 separate posts?

@Dashrender said in Fitness and Weightloss:

I call it nutrition instead of diet

And you'd be wrong because they are different. Diet is diet. What you regularly eat and drink is diet, period.

When someone says diet, it doesn't necessarily imply a specific special intake of nitrition. It's all diet, even if you only consume twinkies, or eat regularly and nothing specific. It's a diet no matter what.

When someone says "I am going on a diet" which is more or less what was being discussed it does mean a particular plan of intake. It also frequently means a short term, unsustainable plan.

It is helpful to think of nutritional intake changes outside the context of "going on a diet" because setting long term, sustainable changes is going to work out better.

Exactly - and this is what people seem to understand much better when I say or talk about my nutrition, instead of my diet.

The term diet, while accurate to describe literally what I'm eating - has basically been cooped by diet fads to the point where the masses hear 'diet' and assume you're on some short term plan with a likely goal of losing weight.

Going on a diet literally tells me nothing, and forces me to assume everything. So when this happens, no matter the context, I comment.

@DustinB3403 said in Active Directory - User Attribute RFID/HID Badge:

@Dashrender I'm a 3rd party to the end customer here. Acting as the middle man as the customer's IT department wanted to engage outside support to try and vet different products.

I candidly told the customer that while this product will work, it won't work with all of the features they want without some substantial changes to their infrastructure and that the support (at least from this vendor) is pretty awful.

The simple approach here is to not integrate RFID/HID's to the system and simply use the AD Integration with the built-in QR codes that each member is assigned.

Just because something may be supported, doesn't imply that it is support.

You can also do a 31 day trial of Azure Sentinel to get a feel for how much data it may consume. You can also try Azure Monitor to get a feel for the data needs. Choosing the pay as you go option for both.

How much data per day do you imagine?

You need to account for both Sentinel and Azure Monitor.

For the whole family, we discovered an interesting thing to do. We give everyone laser pointers and use a project screen and do hidden object games. Everyone gets into it seeing how quickly they can find everything. It's a blast.

I don't get it... you "draw" objects on teh screen with a laser pointer and you have to guess what is being drawn?

@Obsolesce said in Is there a MS Licensing expert here regarding remote OSes?:

Meaning, when someone says pick a number between 1 and 10, I see the only options as choosing a number from the following: 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.

The same, because that's what they said. Although I almost never hear that, normally it is from 1 to 10, which is inclusive of both 1 & 10, but between is exclusive of them.

      I didn't say that, misquoted?
