Not sure, i think some here are the ones getting this wrong.
LVM mirroring is different than MD RAID 1 from what i can tell, otherwise why arent people using LVM mirroring? There are zero guides on the internet about using LVM to make RAID volumes.

      According to SuperMicro
      http://supermicro.com/support/faqs/faq.cfm?faq=18313
Update your BIOS and check again.
It could be normal, BMC reporting incorrect values which trigger an alarm.
      Does the system crash ever?

    • RE: Web app authenticate against customer AD?

@pete-s said in Web app authenticate against customer AD?:

But is it likely that an enterprise would expose ldap to the internet? Or is there something else inbetween?

You can do this, using ldaps and some certificates.

But likely you want to use SSO which is done over http/https. Many sites support SSO using SAML2.0 compliant implementations, like ADFS.
For example the MS CRM system has you setup an ADFS by default, you dont have to but is recommended, and i think required if you want remote users to use it without vpn.
This consists of the CRM, ADFS servers to provide access to people outside lan.
CRM homepage exposed to internet on 443, ADFS server on 443 exposed as well.

Someone on outside network, they sign into CRM homepage with AD creds. The login request gets sent to public IP of your ADFS server over https, which then connects to you AD server on the LAN, it does its checks and responds with yay or nay to CRM.

    • RE: I must be doing something wrong... BIOS updates Dell servers

Okay after more problems I have got the update process going.
After you make the bootable iso in rufus, then boot off of it, you will likely get a whole screen full of errors about not being able to mount disks, and finally about
      apply_bundles.sh file not found error.

      https://www.dell.com/community/PowerEdge-Hardware-General/apply-bundles-sh-is-invalid/td-p/4756984
^^This is the solution, though mine required some more.
      #mount /dev/sd(b)1 /opt/dell/toolkit/systems
sdb1 might be something else on your computer.
Then I had to manually navigate to
      cd /opt/dell/toolkit/systems/drm_files
      Finally from here
      #./apply_bundles.sh

It looks like it is working. Dots are moving across the terminal screen.

Here is the webpage describing the linux iso update process, and links to the individual server models.

"Update process may take an hour" WTF?
Honestly dont care how long it takes, just that it works at this point. Will know when this glacial download completes.

    • I must be doing something wrong... BIOS updates Dell servers

It seems to be impossible to update the bios on a Dell R220. Been trying for a loooong time. Tried to use the efi file, cant be chosen from the File Explorer in UEFI. Get 'non bootable device' if i choose it as boot device. Lifecycle Controller requires $ apparently.
I just found that Dell has made linux iso files for this purpose(likely because the current process is so bad), a separate one for each server they sell going back years now.
The iso images are 2.5GB each. Downloading one now very slowly, will need to use rufus to make it usb bootable.
Seriously why cant i just hit Ctrl Home during post and be done with it in 30 seconds like i could 15 years ago?

    • RE: Getting A Dell T320 To Work As Dual Monitor Workstation

Right and the gt 710 is much faster than the 7 years old quadro he has, and it is supported in windows 10, and costs 50 dollars, and has 2GB RAM vs 1GB on the Quadro 600. No need to buy a new workstation just to get two monitors working. Just buy a video card for fifty dollars. If it still doesnt work then buy a new workstation.

PCIe bus power is 75W without need for 6 or 8 pin power from GPU.

Are you trying to get the dual monitors working on the server OS? Why not try a clean install of Win 10, then install the correct drivers. That might be an easier route if 10 is the desired OS for the system.

Yes, and if you are using a Windows Server for this at the moment, have you installed the Desktop Experience.

That card is 7 years old. A 55 dollar gt 710 is better than that thing. Likely the new drivers for quadro on amd site dont even work with it, so Win10 is probably unsupported.

I dont see how any org gains traction on Steam or even GoG. Have you looked at the twitch desktop client? Seizure inducing at best, though since it is Amazon they will likely redesign the ui every week just like with their Prime website. The steam interface is clean, refined over the last 20 years, though the new chat client update is gross. Not to mention there are twenty thousand or more games i can buy on Steam plus movies and tv shows now.
I only use Discord because Skype got butchered by MS. This Discord 'launch any game from Discord' thing smacks of raptr, the PUPware that amd was shoveling down user throats a couple years ago with Catalyst updates. I guess there are a few people who dont use Steam, that may want to buy something through Discord or Twitch, but it has to be less than 1 in 100 pc gamers.
