@connorsoliver I was wondering the same thing. I know we can download equivalents on our phones, but didn't think it was an option on the BIOS.

Quite a bit of info in a short amount of time. How do you reset the BIOS if it loads off a flash then?

RE: Bits and Bytes (1983)
Episode 12 done. Interesting to see where they thought we would go. The one thing that got me the entire time was what was Luba Goy using as the communication screen? Was it fake orvreal?

Episode 11 done. All the word processing power we have today is impressive compared to where we came from. Simple editing seemed laborious compared to today where we simply drag the mouse or click a button. Are hot keys from that era and were just carried over?It makes me wonder what things will look like 20 years from now.

Episode 10 done. Interesting how simple tones were amazing discoveries back then. Anyone could be on the cutting edge to find out what could be done. That being said, I lost countless hours of my life to frooty loops lol.

Episode 8 done. It seems that there was a lot more focus in childhood education and teaching kids real world things like using your bank account. There are kids today who can't write out a check.

Episode 7 done. It's crazy to see that people were contemplating AI even back then. In a previous episode they equated a computer's speed to ours. We are like stone I think it said? Anyway, does anyone have an actual time reference.? Like 24 hours for us is how long for a potential AI with it's processing time?

RE: Bits and Bytes (1983)
@scottalanmiller I thought signals move close to the speed of light? How does the length change that?

RE: Bits and Bytes (1983)
@connorsoliver we had one computer lab that had a bunch of Apple computers that used the disks in plastic. The majority of what we actually used them for was a typing class, pretty lame. I wish they offered more back then.

@scottalanmiller what happens when you go over the limit?

RE: Bits and Bytes (1983)
Episode 6 done. I wish I was exposed to Logo as a kid. It actually looked fun. That kid's story about the triangle baby turtle was epic. The look on that teacher's face
.
Wondering if we still need compilers for translating program language to machine?

RE: Bits and Bytes (1983)
@scottalanmiller is there still limitations on the amount of computers you have on a network?

Episode 4 done. Wondering if you have to put a stop command in a program or is there a specific way to do it?
