Is there any real difference when using IPV4 vs IPV6 besides the amount of addresses available that I should be aware of?

Is there the actual math where he got that chart that I can look into? I don't understand why 10000000 would be 128 etc.

At 2:14 he is showing the leading buts chart. 127 is missing. Why?

When you are setting up a virtual address can it be anything?

While the math is pretty straightforward, the why would I use this wasn't covered. How often do you use this and for what?

When using ipconfig on a network I've seen the IPV4 and IPV6 addresses shown at the same workstation. Sometimes it shows IPV4 (preferred). Why is that?

If you are using :: to abbreviate sets of 2 or more zeros, how can you tell how many there are? In the example he condensed 3 sets down to ::?

He mentioned proprietary protocols. Do you always have the option to choose between the standard and proprietary or do some force you to use the proprietary?
