How is @jospoortvliet related to OC?
He is an engineer with the development team, I believe. He's definitely on staff there.
Or was..

I have a wall mount Rack at home in a closet. Just some POE+ switches, Router, Home Automation Controls, Alarm System stuff, Coxial Distro and patch panels

Are they all the same model of HP though ie all the same driver?
Yes, HP Universal.
That might be your issue actually.
As a side comment you can use Web Jet Admin to manage the jet directs.
Nah, Universal drivers are the best. Especially when deploying drivers from a print server.

Direct IP does seem to be working.....
Try Stopping spooler on the print server
del c:\windows\system32\spool\printers*.*
Then Starting Spooler -

I would restart the print spooler service as my first step.
Yep even if it's running you should stop it, clear it and restart it.

Have, a bunch of times.
Did you delete those files in the directory?
Also there may not be any files in there FYI. It's not a guarantee that they will be in there.
Yes. But they should be deleted if they are to help with troubleshooting.

RE: user accounts outside of default Users OU
Nope. We don't put any users there. That is actually a Folder and not an OU if it's the default 'Users" one.
Most likely somethings wrong with a Scope somewhere if you have issues with it.

I just create folders under the Users OU if I feel there is a need to break things up for delegation or tasks like that.
It's a folder not an OU so you still can't apply Group Policies to it.

Data Recovery DIY
I have a drive that hadn't been backed up to Crashplan yet.. my only one that hadn't and of course it's the one that failed (and the newest one). I've bought a new one of the same model and plan to swap the platters (it's not worth paying for professional disaster recovery, just a would be nice to have thing). Anyone ever tried swapping platters before? How did it go?

RE: Edge Router LITE and WiFi controller
They don't. and Having extra stuff on your edge device is not a good idea. more attack surface.

RE: encrypt fill in .pdf form
The common consensus for level 1 data (SSNs etc). It not to store them on Google Cloud, DropBox etc. Don't store them on laptops, desktops or any mobile device.
They should be encrypted at rest and in transit, and usually need a password to open at the file level.
Going against this and storing them in files online rather than a specific service meant for this is asking to be held liable if something happens.

They make a product for that. The USG
Okay - so it's NOT so far fetched.. Since there is a product.
I'm good with leaving what I have running.
Likely not MIPS based though.
My guess is that it is, otherwise they would have to maintain more hardware.
Yeah apperenlty it has the exact same MIPS processor as the ERL. Now I'm surpised someone hasn't pulled the unifi packages off of it and moved it to the ERL then.

RE: Install Microsoft Volume Licence application with Office 365
Slightly different issue but looks like microsoft is willing to help out with these type of issues:

So, you have already opened the drive and observed it in operation? Most likely it's already toast then.
They aren't that sensitive to dust.. Thats a myth. They are sensative to dust in that it hurts their longevity. It doesn't erase the data or make it impossible to read. I have a couple friends who work in data recovery and they all say the clean environment is way over stated if you don't plan on keeping using the drive (which you shouldn't do).

RE: Install Microsoft Volume Licence application with Office 365
You should be able to uninstall Click to run then use a volume key to install the same level of office you have with 365 as a MSI and then install the standalone MSI for access.

RE: Switching subnet /24 to /23
You can change it with no down time though for the most part just devices you haven't changed from /24 to /23 won't be able to contact the ones outside of the smaller scope until you fix it.

Does the workstations need to be restart to take the new IP address?
It should renew itself at somepoint as the DHCP server would still be within the old scope. It will just update the subnet mask when it send a request for a renew (and they check well before they expire to make sure they still have the lease.)

RE: Content filtering (on a Corporate LAN)
Seems pretty normal. We don't block anything here but Phishing and Malware.
