I just went to download IEAK 10 (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/browser/bb219517.aspx) and it looks like Microsoft deprecated v10's download. Does anyone know if v11 supersedes it? I haven't found any details from Microsoft where they say as much and I want to be sure both v10 and 11 are covered in the same kit if that's the case. So, I'm just looking for confirmation from anyone that's used the IEAK, really.

SANs in the Enterprise?
I'm interested to know what SANs everyone is using in their environment, and approximately how many users/servers/data is in that environment. I'm doing research for comparisons to an environment that I'm working in now with FreeNAS as the primary san in the enterprise.

Researching the best method with powershell to find all users with a drive mapping to an old server and remap just those users to the new one.

Minecraft Groundhog Day
I'm thinking I might roll back the minecraft server every day in February until people figure out Groundhog Day.

RE: TMobile CEO on Trash Talking in the HBR
I've been using T-Mobile since they were VoiceStream. Never any real problem, and when I've called in for support, it's always fast to get things fixed. The one time I took exception to a rep was when the CSR in a store spent more time talking at me, staring at his fingernails, and I had friends with me, so the rep made TMo look bad, especially since I had popped a capacitor on my cell and needed a replacement immediately. As a result of this rep's lackadaisical attitude, I went back home and ordered from the play store directly, inserting the SIM and doing my own upgrade. It took me 3-4 days for shipping, of course.
Since we've been customers for so long, we have a direct line to the advocacy group that's a little more direct and specialized for anyone that's been a customer for 5+ years. -
RE: ZFS is Perfectly Safe on Hardware RAID
So is ZFS designed to work on JBOD and is it safer than running it on top of a hardware raid platform? What kind of reliability is expected from each?

@Dashrender Sure. How else would they make Italian Ice?

@Texkonc I made a grilled cheese sandwich with sourdough from a local bakery called Kneader's. They have better sourdough than that San Francisco place.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Got to work today, 8:30am (usual time for an agreed 9am start -- I like the extra buffer of telling myself to be at work by 830 so when things go sideways and I'm late at 9, I'm actually on time) and the usual happened: everything went sideways for whatever reason, and we fixed it, and then I decided to get a couple change requests pushed through so I could update a server. No big deal except this one wasn't updated since it was originally installed, ca. 1/2013. Ok, start that at 6, leave the office at 7, finish at 9:30pm. In the meantime, the minecraft/ARK server lost power and it was brought back up after some delay (owner forgot where to put the USB boot stick that has the hypervisor). Fixed at 9ish, but I ran linux dist-upgrades, freed up disk space, etc. and then got that done at 10:30. Finally, get to walk in my own office and the f()ing server here has a drive failure. What the everliving f() is up with this day?

@Dashrender I like that your wife understands this.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Just like @Dashrender, I'm in the snow, except I still have a drive home which, according to Waze, is going to be at least 55 minutes long. I'm not doing that. I'm working on the backup server. It sucks. Veritas Backup Exec. We all know it;s just a reskin of the Symantec bullshit. I hate it so much.

RE: Gaming - What's everyone playing / hosting / looking to play
@scottalanmiller @dashrender Three hours? Filthy casuals. Try Civilization where it can take days to play through a whole game, and weeks in multiplayer. The devs even made changes to force a faster playstyle so with changes like that enabled, the timing can be brought down to 2-5 hours, though it is cheating in my mind.
Also, ARK is persistant so my ARK 'game' has been going on now for more than a year. -

@scottalanmiller Everyone has the same glasses (roughly the same shape). Do you not get other options wherever you are? Also, I'm very out of the loop, so I'm assuming the librarian following you home is going to get your overdue book?

Thanks! Checking it out now. I need to get information on this stuff for HIPAA compliance and anything to save cash or make things easier is great.
