    • Iterate systems with a timer

      I needed to iterate through a list of systems that I'd placed in to a text file so I could shut them off, perform work on each one through vsphere and return it to service without just taking them all down immediately. The countdown gives me the opportunity to do the work and turn the vm back on.

      $file = "$($ENV:USERPROFILE)\desktop\systems.txt"
      $systems = get-content $file
      foreach ($guest in $Systems){
              Write-Host -foregroundcolor cyan "``nStopping $($guest)."
              Stop-Computer -ComputerName $guest
      #On-screen Timer
      $delay = 280
      $Counter_Form = New-Object System.Windows.Forms.Form
      $Counter_Form.Text = "Countdown Timer!"
      $Counter_Form.Width = 450
      $Counter_Form.Height = 200
      $Counter_Label = New-Object System.Windows.Forms.Label
      $Counter_Label.AutoSize = $true
      $Counter_Form.Controls.Add($Counter_Label)
      while ($delay -ge 0)
      {
        $Counter_Form.Show()
        $Counter_Label.Text = "Seconds Remaining: $($delay)"
        start-sleep 1
        $delay -= 1
      }
      $Counter_Form.Close()
      }

      Finally getting discharged from the hospital/rehab. Been here since Sept 3rd, not sure I'm actually ready to go home, but insurance decided that's all they're paying for.

      Oh damn.. what happened?

      User Allergies?

      I wish. Severe neuropathy (nerve pain) caused by a REALLY bad B12 deficiency. The B12 part is fixed now but there's still agonizing pain 24/7. Like a fentanyl patch barely reduces the pain. Hurts like hell to type, I can barely walk, etc.

      That sucks. Neuropathy is the worst.

      True. Never experienced anything like this before, and I definitely wasn't ready for the crazy pain and tactile sensation loss. Wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

      Been dealing with it since 7/2018 here.

      Dark web drugs raid leads to 179 arrests

      Police forces around the world have seized more than $6.5m (£5m) in cash and virtual currencies, as well as drugs and guns in a co-ordinated raid on dark web marketplaces.
      Some 179 people were arrested across Europe and the US, and 500kg (1,102lb) of drugs and 64 guns confiscated. It ends the "golden age" of these underground marketplaces, Europol said. "The hidden internet is no longer hidden", said Edvardas Sileris, head of Europol's cyber-crime centre. The operation, known as DisrupTor, was a joint effort between the Department of Justice and Europol. It is believed that the criminals engaged in tens of thousands of sales of illicit goods and services across the US and Europe. Drugs seized including fentanyl, oxycodone, methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, ecstasy and MDMA.

      That's a lot of people for the amount seized. You would think there'd be more cash or actual drugs. It seems like a lot of effort for little reward.

      Has anyone tried Qradar CE or full Qradar on their network? I've only used it at work, and that version is robust. I'm wondering if it's comparable to Graylog or other log ingestion tools. Maybe there's a better tool for the same purpose?

      https://developer.ibm.com/qradar/ce/

      If it's open source why not but.p up those thresholds a bit and go to town?

      It's OS? I never found the license info.

      I never said it was, I asked if it is.

      They use docker on a centos platform distributed via an ova. Licensing is based on events per seconds.

      So the Dept went a bought 1600 new servers, with 3 x 1.2TB in RAID 5.
      What do you think about that!

      HDD, SSD, or NVMe drives?

      HDD = bad

      SSD or NVMe = fine

      I have strong feelings about RAID5 and this question is the only one that's important right now.

      Just got into the office today, Son decided to do a back flip last night while I was taking the garbage cans to the curb. Broke his Wrist (Radius Fracture) spent 3 hours in the ER and 3.5 at the Othro doc's to get a cast put on.

      OMG, that's awful. Glad that it isn't any worse, though.

      My wife is pissed about the scar I have from a surgery as it's healed to be nearly unnoticeable while she barely burns herself taking something out of the oven and it has marked her for life.

      Debating getting lifetime PlexPass while its on sale

      Last year, I only paid $75 for my mine.

      I just checked mine, I got it in 2014 for $75. Probably the best $75 I've ever spent. We use Plex SO much.

      You only need the plexpass if you're running a server. Friends/family that access it do not need the pass.

      If you didn't laugh at the end, you don't understand what happened. Also, Tara Strong (Harley Quinn) sounds a LOT like Lori Petty in this. I had to double check the cast listing on IMDB. I love that King Shark has all the Hawaiian tattoos. So much detail!
