@Pete-S I want to open up a browser & type in the name of a computer on vlan10 & have the traffic flow through.
Right now, the traffic tries to go through the gateway on 1.1.1.1

Network routing question
On my FC30 desktop, I have one nic, subnet is 1.1.1.1
I also have a vlan 10, subnet is 2.2.2.2
On vlan 10, there is a dns server at 2.2.2.200How can I "route" specific traffic to through vlan 10?

RE: AWS Catastrophic Data Loss
Cloud is 10000% reliable....it never fails, it's the cloud. Don't need no stinkin' backup, it's in the cloud!

RE: Backup strategy for customer data?
What are good options for "small" tapes setups, kinda like a 5, 6 or xx bay Synology for tape?

RE: SonataSuite Switchboard for VitalPBX
Very nice.
That’s one thing that’s seriously missing from FusionPBX!

RE: SIP Trunks and Directory Assistance
8003733411. Some VOIP provider gave me that number many moons ago!

RE: SIP Trunks and Directory Assistance
There is a number for SIP service, let me see if I can dig it up.

Skyetel VOIP: what's you think?
I first heard about @Skyetel through FusionPBX.
Over the years having used providers like bandwidth.com, Vitelity, Appia, SigmaVOIP, Birch, CBeyond, Twilio etc. Initially, I was skeptical...
Overall, I've been very happy, love the service & love the management console.
I'm in the process of porting all my DIDs to Skyetel (I'll keep Twilio as a backup)
For me, Skyetel + FusionPBX = :thumbs_up: :thumbs_up:fyi: I was already on Skyetel before they advertised on this site.
Anyhow, this is just my opinion, no one asked me to write this nor was I paid to do it.

RE: Naming convention for VMs?
I use the following:
host or function/task | prd or lab | location | client domain.comeg, dc-01.prd.la2.bob.com
dc-01 = domain controller
prd = production
la2 = LA2 co-lo
bob = client's name -

Does Nutanix count?
Nutanix at 3 nodes is 6 figures. So it does not count.

Correct, but you still need Windows to manage the Linux version...which makes no sense to me.
I reached out to Starwind & stand corrected.
Windows is not needed to manage Starwind VSAN for vSphere & KVM (upcoming, still in beta) -

I'm not sure what "Hyper-V partition" means.
I meant to say the host o/s partition.

We've taken to setting up a dedicated pair of domain controllers in the node's local Hyper-V setup as opposed to making them highly available in our Storage Spaces Direct and disaggregate (Nodes + shared SAS JBOD(s)).
Setting up the DC in the Hyper-V partition?

I'm pretty positive it requires a windows guest to be supplied the storage, which then gets passed out to the hypervisor.
It used to be Windows based.
Correct, but you still need Windows to manage the Linux version...which makes no sense to me.

Looks like you can use Cockpit to do some stuff but you still need the Starwind Management Console (which is Windows) -

from https://www.vladan.fr/starwind-vsan-for-vsphere-new-release/
StarWind Virtual SAN for vSphere -is a VMware-only Software-Defined-Storage stack. A ready-to-go Linux VM installs on the cluster nodes to share their storage resources.
Once installed, Virtual SAN creates a fault-tolerant storage pool available to the entire vSphere cluster. VSAN users get limitless virtualization capabilities in terms of features, storage capacity, and cost-efficiency. Enterprise-level functionality and performance are available in the infrastructure of your choice. -

Because the VSAN software is built to use Windows and Powershell to manage the supplied storage.
Starwind vSAN for vSphere is 100% Linux?

KVM is definitely supported, talked to management in the last twelve hours. Just not advertised.
Any specific reason for the non-advertisement of KVM?

RE: HCI vendors: software or hardware
Looking at the Starwind vSAN for vsphere notes: https://www.starwindsoftware.com/resource-library/starwind-virtual-san-for-vsphere
You still need Windows to help "manage" the vsphere install...why?
