I'm not aware of any precedence justifying forcing parents to pay for a child's college education. That's ridiculous. My parents took out parent loans to help each of their kids go to college, and we are all grateful, because they sure didn't HAVE to, they wanted to do so. If that was my kid, I wouldn't want to help her pay for college either. I hope that this is just thrown out of court, as it should be, and I also hope that this action follows that girl around her entire life, because being that frivolously and maliciously litigious should have lifelong consequences, like no company ever wanting to hire you.

RE: Customer Service Fail
They also told me that the source information was proprietary to the supplier so that they couldn't tell me exactly where it's from, just that it's not from China. I'd be okay with it being from China, at least then orangutans wouldn't have been murdered for it.

@scottalanmiller Are you posting while you're driving?! I disapprove!

RE: Cooking with mango
I bet both of those would be great sweetened with honey, but then again, I LOVE honey in just about anything! I don't like fresh papaya, not sure why. I bought a fresh one for Oreo once, and it made me gaggy as I was cutting it up, and every time I took some out of the freezer to put in his food, it made me gag again.

@Joyfano I don't think they would still be fresh by the time they made it to you. Do you know how long it takes for packages to get from NY to there?

Customer Service Fail
I emailed Silk to ask them if the vitamin A palmitate in their almond milk is sourced from Borneo or Sumatra (specifically named them), and they responded that it wasn't from China. Ummm... yeah thanks. I responded explaining that I hadn't asked if it was from China, and that Borneo and Sumatra are actually in Indonesia. If I was responding to a customer inquiry and I didn't know where a place they mentioned was located, I would have looked it up.

RE: Chocolate Chip cookies made with honey
The girls have eaten about a dozen of these cookies today. I probably should have cut them off earlier, but it's been a long time since they had freshly baked cookies, and they are enjoying the cookies so much that I didn't have the heart, lol.

RE: Anyone else laughing about the title of this board?
I looked it up, the Ned Beatty thing was definitely in The Blair Thumb. Not as funny as Thumb Wars.

It might have been The Blair Thumb. I'm not sure which one that was in. @scottalanmiller ?

Does anyone else do the Thumb Wars "Ned Beatty" bit every time they say Bob Beatty? Just me?

Ah, okay. I was not aware, since I haven't tried to post anything to it.

RE: Our Community Guidelines
This should be added to the Feature Requests thread. Good idea.

RE: TV/Movies Discussion
- Firefly, Doctor Who Series 1 (and beyond), Coupling, Downton Abbey, and lots more.
- The Cosby Show - this was the one show that my family sat down and watched together every Thursday night while I was growing up. When Scott and I recently re-watched it, we realized that viewing it as a parent is an entirely new experience, and so much funnier.
- Last of the Mohicans. I watched this with my high school boyfriend, and I was crying so hard at the end that I was mortified for him to see me that way, but I couldn't help it. I'm talking SOBBING. Over a movie. sigh
- I HATE Dumb & Dumber. Ugh.
- Frozen is the last new movie I saw in a theatre. It was awesome.

RE: TED Talks: Sir Ken Robinson on Do Schools Kill Creativity
This video actually helped to remind me that when L#1 doesn't feel like sitting at her desk and doing the schoolwork that I want her to do, letting her get up and play with her toys is just fine, especially at this age. If I try to push the desk work too much, we both end up frustrated and annoyed with each other. If we have a day where all we do is calendar time and a reading lesson, more often than not, the next day she is eager to sit and complete every worksheet and subject I have prepared, often wanting to do far more than I have available. She and I are discovering how we "do school" together.

It's not that difficult to get MW to do what you want, though. You just need to get used to it.
