Or build your own Graylog server and it doesn't have this issue.

I mean, I'm already using open source and moving away from GUI.

Let me have SOME creature comforts for goodness sake.

But the client by default (as an Always) you set the time source for the client to be the DC. So even if the DC is of by 12 years, you're clients should be off as well.

Time will still be bad, but it's bad everywhere.

That's a good question. How would the client know the DC is off? Wouldn't it just update to the DC time?

But again, I think that goes back to Scott's question of ... what does the DC use for its time source.

You know that thread we had once where someone was complaining about how a simple question here always digresses into a mutli-page discussion and then an argument?

But if, say, the port the host was plugged into went bad, the host and VMs would still be able to talk to each other right?

The only machines that aren't working are the file server and print server. Everything else connected correctly. Am I doing this on the domain controller or problem server?

On the problem server check and see if there are static DNS servers defined. That would be my guess.

      The IP's are correct

      0_1473432728827_correct.jpg

Erm, is the .16 a DNS? Same host?

I was going to say. Is this on the 2003 DC or the File server you are having issues with?

Assuming the DC since he said the DC was .16

Could it be a firewall with UDP throttling on and these machines are just getting caught at random?

Wouldn't that make the issue intermittent though?

Maybe just turn it off for a second and see if you can do some lookup

I've seen that not even work. Because the innards of it are messed up.

I'm going to reboot my ESX02 host. I tried to do this from a few VM's and I see that none of them are working. Giving me an inkling into what could be the problem.

That thing has probably been rebooted more in the past few hours than in months combined!

I am curious why you would want to run OSX in a VM anyway?

What advantages does OSX give you over Windows or Linux Distros other than the obvious video or music editing which probably isn't ideal in a VM anyway?

He said a couple posts up that he hopes it was good for learning. So maybe self education.

In the IT field, that would be the last OS I would be interested in learning. Especially if your company doesn't have any so you have to download a poorly made image.

Depend what kind of support and IT you are interested in. Lots of people work in OSX support areas.

I have yet to meet one in person. Maybe it's an east coast thing. Macs seems to be much more popular in business on the west coast.

West coast is primarily Mac, believe it or not. Especially in the Valley. It's to the point that people are surprised when people use Windows.

Drop Box was 99.9% Mac when I visted last year.

      What was the .1%?

I have tried quite a few hosts. A2 has been the best. The speed is great and service is good as well. One of the big advantages for me is the optimized wordpress install they offer.

Their install automatically sets up caching, CSS minimization, HTML minimization, database optimaztion, image compression (lossless), some other features. It also setups security on your site and renames wp-admin to something random, locks editing files (you can always unlock, etc).

You can turn any one feature off at anytime and it's a great time saver vs doing all those things manually.

That's with their top plan that included Turbo, I presume?

You dont even have to have A2 hosting to take advantage of that. Their are 13 speed enhancements available with their plugin. If you dont have A2 hosting you can use 11 enhancements the other 2 are built in to A2 hosting. All their plans offer the Optimized site.

I've been pretty happy thus far with A2.

I am trying them and ASO.

One thing I like is they assign a name to your temp domain, so it's accessible.

      Like mangolassiit.a2shared.com

So far, how is the comparison between A2 and ASO?

A2 has been fine but apparently I signed up "wrong" initially and they won't adjust my price moving forward. So I'll probably be going back to ASO.

Partly why I like PA so much 🙂 But they do more than a traditional firewall, less then a "full" UTM.

BTW, at MC you mentioned $10K as an entry point to PA.

We have the PA-200 and it was less than $3K.

And like $1.2K ongoing a year for subscriptions, support, etc..

@Minion-Queen since you have seen both the 6 and the 7, and I am thinking of upgrading to the 7, do you find any big reason for me to upgrade? I don't see a killer feature on the 7, but since I haven't seen it, maybe you have!

@Minion-Queen do you find a big reason to upgrade from a 6?

Sure I've gone through three screens, but I can't justify 700 bucks and haven't found a killer feature.

Notice where the "?" mark is. The QUESTION was "did you find a big reason to upgrade?" The word "feature" is nowhere to be seen. The following line is a comment about your personal criteria for justifying an upgrade. That was not in the question portion. Yeah, she had a big reason to upgrade: the plan. Asking about some new feature that would justify an upgrade for you isn't there. You may be meaning to ask it, but you didn't. Plus 10 points to @JaredBusch for basic English skills.

Don't I get some points for figured out what (I think) he was asking? 🙂

What was "wrong" about your signup?

      I guess I signed up for a month-to-month?

So, the only way to get the advertised price is to sign up for a two year commitment and use their coupon, which is only available on first signup.

Net net, it's $12.99 for basic hosting which I think is pricey.

ASO is $5 monthly or $4.17 if you do a year commitment.
