@scottalanmiller NFS is enabled for the shared folder (as well as SMB and AFP) which is /nas01/backup

    • Connect Fedora Server to NAS share

I am trying to connect a Fedora server to a Synology NAS for a local backup as the NAS is already existing and has a large amount of storage. I can browse the folder on the NAS from Windows and Linux clients but cannot get the drive mapped in fstab or using Cockpit. I have tried for a while and don't see where the issue is. What is the correct format for the fstab?

Edit: I have read the Fedora documentation and man pages but still no working config. Also install the cifs-utils package to try and map from within Cockpit. No luck.

@JaredBusch I will try it that way. Seems to be a more safe way of performing that task anyway.

@DustinB3403 The defaults after the install following @JaredBusch guide. Did not alter the config.

Is this error related to selinux when trying to run an update in Nextcloud?

I have also been spending quite a bit of time with KVM. I have noticed a big difference in disk activity between 2 servers that have similar specs and the same workloads - one running KVM and one on Hyper-V 2019. The KVM server is using a lot less resources it seems.

Back to my earlier post about NC16 and uploads - I dropped a Win 10 Pro iso into one of the folders and it uploaded successfully. 4.7Gb Not sure what the "limit" is now by default.

      Nextcloud 16.0.0
Your version is up to date.

Anyone else notice on Nextcloud 16 the File Handling settings are missing from the settings page? I know they are normally greyed out but it is totally missing.

The larger ReadyNAS devices were also Supermicro. Just retired one that has DDR2 RAM. Had 12 bays like the one pictured above. Just older.

      You have Xming running?

Yes, it should be. Shows the icon in the taskbar after I "opened it".

@DustinB3403 May do that too. I already have the iso on a flash drive.

Or leap forward, skip Windows 10 64bit, and do Fedora 30 when it comes out this week!

Thought about that. I'm so indecisive. That is my biggest fault. 😕
I don't have anything on the laptop that 100% requires Windows. I don't use MS Office or Outlook. I have linux desktops in the house but no portable devices.

    • RE: Choosing KVM over Hyper-V....

I'll just use virt-manager for now. I will have to load Fedora Workstation on my laptop to manage it. Tried to install it under windows (with the Ubuntu stack) but laptop is set up as x86 so it won't work. Not sure why it was set up with 32 bit windows when I purchased it.....

Going to install KVM this eve and see how it goes.

@scottalanmiller No doubt. I don’t think it should have been released yet. The import/export function that have existed for a long time in HV manager are a “feature request”. Really?

@Obsolesce I use your guide to set up the management but once the machine leaves, I don't want to have to do it to every machine as the same one won't always be available. I know that is a strange scenario but not my choice. Your guide works perfect. I peruse your site frequently. Excellent work btw.
