@scottalanmiller Yes. On the plus side - it's not a "homegroup" Ugh.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
@gjacobse I have 2 ReadyNAS 2120 and they are EOL also. I just set up a Fedora 32 minimal with an NFS share and 4 - 8Tb drives in a raid 10. Working great so far. I had all the spare parts.

Nginx VM
What is the best method to determine the disk size for a Nginx reverse proxy? I plan on having a minimal amout of servers behind it. ie: Nextcloud, Bookstack, and Unifi Controller. I have searched and cannot find any concrete info on how big to make the disk for the VM or how much resources to give it. This is my first attempt at setting all of this up behind a proxy.

RE: What does your desk look like?
I just can't imagine using a RP4 for a desktop. Seems like you would spend too much time waiting for things to load and get frustrated. I have spent some time on the one my son has. No way I could do it. Not saying it isn't possible. Just not for me. Do you deploy RP4 for "power users"?
Also, does the micro SD wear out faster from continued read/writes?

RE: Nginx VM
I saw that a lot on Ubuntu installs - The /boot partition that the installer created was always too small for the kernels after a few updates. Have yet to see that happen in Fedora.

RE: The Skinny on Plex: How Are People Using It
We use ours for movies and music. All ripped from discs so far. Just looked at the dashboard - 7547 music tracks and 694 movies. No tuner card and no Plex Pass.
As of now we don't share with outside users. -
DNS A record
Using GoDaddy DNS, I can add a forwarder to a sub domain with either http or https and it works instantly. If I create an A record for sub.domain.com it doesn’t seem to work. Trying to point 2 sub domains at my Nginx and it never seems to propagate. What am I missing?

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
@dafyre I hate how they throw the "gaming" label on so many PCs. You aren't kidding though. Pretty good specs on the MSI models.

RE: DNS A record
Looks like there is a Forwarder that will not delete and is causing the problem. Working on it now..

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Installed a LibreNMS and Zabbix VM in my lab to test. Still not sure on which one I prefer.

RE: Choosing KVM over Hyper-V....
@Pete-S I thought you could after the cockpit-machines package is installed.

@DustinB3403 May do that too. I already have the iso on a flash drive.
Or leap forward, skip Windows 10 64bit, and do Fedora 30 when it comes out this week!
Thought about that. I'm so indecisive. That is my biggest fault.
I don't have anything on the laptop that 100% requires Windows. I don't use MS Office or Outlook. I have linux desktops in the house but no portable devices. -
Connect Fedora Server to NAS share
I am trying to connect a Fedora server to a Synology NAS for a local backup as the NAS is already existing and has a large amount of storage. I can browse the folder on the NAS from Windows and Linux clients but cannot get the drive mapped in fstab or using Cockpit. I have tried for a while and don't see where the issue is. What is the correct format for the fstab?
Edit: I have read the Fedora documentation and man pages but still no working config. Also install the cifs-utils package to try and map from within Cockpit. No luck.

RE: Connect Fedora Server to NAS share
@scottalanmiller NFS is enabled for the shared folder (as well as SMB and AFP) which is /nas01/backup

RE: Choosing KVM over Hyper-V....
Great so far. Have not been able to spend as much time with it as I would have liked. I did not care for running virt-manager on Win10 under Ubuntu. I need to get a dedicated linux laptop. I could run Fedora as a VM but dedicated would be preferred.

RE: Onlyoffice vs Collabora in Nextcloud
https://helpcenter.onlyoffice.com/server/linux/community/linux-installation-centos.aspx?_ga=2.97092124.2049076129.1559669474-423780045.1559669474
is for the Community Version and is definitely different than the link posted above. It too makes no mention of Docker. The Docker option is there but not what I would choose. To me, Docker would just add a layer of complexity and more things to break
Yes, I have Nginx in front of all NC installs. -
RE: Content filtering with granular settings
As far as Sophos goes.... my opinion is that the SG is a lot easier to navigate and set up than the XG. That being said - they both work well. You can download the XG software and try it out for free with full functionality.

RE: Onlyoffice vs Collabora in Nextcloud
@scottalanmiller I'm pretty close to throwing in the towel. Their preferred method is fine for those running Docker, but I prefer using VMs and behind Nginx. I don't see why OO wants the certs to be installed manually, etc.

RE: Discussing with management switching to VOIP ...
Same here... When our PRI fails (ATT MIS circuit with a DS1 card in a cisco router) the folks at my job don't understand why the phones don't fail over to the backup ISP. Can't convince them to switch though....

RE: Onlyoffice vs Collabora in Nextcloud
I've decided to go with OO because of its strong use of native MS Office file formats. I have Nextcloud, nginx, and onlyoffice all running as VMs and both NC and OO have certs and can be accessed via https. NC can connect to OO fine and I can generate a new document in NC - however, the document opens as a blank page and throws an error inside the webpage if you look at the logs. I am sure that it is a problem with the .conf file in nginx but I haven't been able to narrow it down. I think it has something to do with connecting to the OO server as http behind the proxy. Most of the documentation shows using certs directly on the OO server but that defeats the purpose of my proxy.
