@dashrender The reason for the separate trunks is for separate billing for phone service. Granted it is a minimal amount, they still argue over who is paying for what. It is comical to me because they did not split the cost of the phones and the system itself.

@WrCombs Install the Role "Active Directory Domain Services" and "DNS Server"

RE: FreePBX outbound call routing
@dashrender This might be the easiest. They only have 2-digit extensions. of the 30 extensions, only 4 or 5 would need alternate routes. I'm still pondering this method.

RE: Multiple game instances on one monitor
@Dashrender Apparently there is a Linux client even though they recommend Windows. Could run Ubuntu VMs to avoid licensing issues.

RE: Fiber VS Copper: racks interconnection in a pre-existing environment
I do this both ways but usually lean towards fiber when I can't stay far enough away from electrical conduits. A major factor with fiber is that it is immune to noise from electrical circuits and can be run very close to them. I think fiber is cheap and I don't mind working with it. Yes, you can run 10G over CAT6 and it will also work well but you are limited on distance.

RE: Multiple game instances on one monitor
@scottalanmiller I need to load up a test machine with Ubuntu or similar and let him try it out first.

RE: Fiber VS Copper: racks interconnection in a pre-existing environment
@francesco-provino Makes sense then to go ahead and use fiber. You are already at 300m too. I never buy pre-term but make sure you spend the extra few dollars and have them install a pulling eye or loop for you. Makes it a lot easier.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
@siringo you should see how we drive in Texas... One of our toll roads is 85 mph / 137 kph (posted) and it is nothing to roll 90 to 95.

@travisdh1 I was 99% sure that I was going with HV but I like reassurance.

We love talking to ours. But maybe that's because we use a good one.
Who do you use?

RE: Remote management of VMs hosted in colocation
I thought virt-manager only used ssh to connect to the host. What about using key-based auth to the host and disable password auth? Seems it would be faster than going through ZT. I guess the laptop compromise still poses an issue in that scenario.

RE: NextCloud alternate data location
@jaredbusch Sure thing. Running Fedora Server 28 minimal from net install image and NC 14.0.1.
I have tried multiple times and it always fails if I try to move the data location. -
RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
@scottalanmiller I never thought of it that way....

RE: NextCloud alternate data location
@JaredBusch I am sure you forgot about this by now... I was looking at @scottalanmiller script at https://gitlab.com/scottalanmiller/nextcloud_fedora_installer and it appears to do what I was doing manually following your guide. He has the script creating /data. I have not run the script on Fedora 28 and changed it to reflect NC 14.0.1 to see if it will work. Ultimately, I want the data on a separate partition. Still cannot get it to work without using fstab to mount my data folder.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
@jmoore I will utter these words: "Because that is the way we've always done it". I can't even explain the difficulty I have trying to get some people to even try a different solution for anything.
Same goes for printers. If someone has to walk more than 3 steps to get to a printer, they complain. It blows my mind how much gets printed and then shredded. Or, better yet - printed, then scanned to a file, and then shredded. I wish I were joking. Paperless is a bad word among the people I work with.
I could go on and on.....

RE: Nextcloud Backup System Idea
As important as backups are - I'm really surprised that NC has not integrated them into the software.
This thread is helpful as I was not aware of Restic. I normally make exports of the VM for NC backups. -
RE: Random Thread - Anything Goes
Finishing up my Fedora 32 install on my laptop. So far, everything is running good.

NextCloud 15 Installation
With the updates and changes to Nextcloud - is there any new steps to the install as compared to the "official @JaredBusch guide" ? I am ready to bring up a new instance and thought I would check before using the NC 13 guide.
Also, is it best to just mount the /var/nextcloud/data folder to a separate partition versus a separate disk? Still haven't had much luck with that part...

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
@black3dynamite Gnome. Startup is a few seconds once the motherboard info is done displaying. I'm going to get spoiled and want a new laptop now. This was on a new desktop with an i3 and 16g ram. Nothing special but still impressed at the speed. My first nvme drive. Blows msata out of the water. Crazy difference when you are directly on the PCI bus.
