    • Shared Hosting or Virtual Private Server?

I keep battling this out in my head.

Should I be using Shared Hosting, or a Virtual Private Server?

I know Linux somewhat well, and can setup a full lamp stack, install screenconnect, change permissions, move/copy/delete files, setup nginx as a reverse proxy, edit conf files.

However I am afraid that I am going to screw something up and leave me or my clients in a bad place. (Ex. Get Hacked, Forget a backup, leave a mail server open to send spam, leave a firewall port open, etc.)

So part of me just wants to use a Shared Hosting Company, and let them handle most of that....

      Am I over thinking this?

    • New Options & Pricing from ScreenConnect

      Dear Customers,

You got us to where we are today, and we are so thankful for your business, which is why we want you to be the first to know when we have news. In response to current market demands and user feedback, we are offering new options to provide the best support for our customersโ€™ needs.

Earlier this year, we launched our new ScreenConnect cloud platform. Although we continue to offer a self-hosted solution, many customers prefer the ease and low maintenance of our cloud solutions. This is a great option for new customers, but also for existing customers that prefer to move away from maintaining their own local server.

In addition, we will be introducing a new on-premise perpetual license bundle later this week for new ScreenConnect customers. The bundle starts at $2,195 and includes 3 concurrent technician licenses (10 simultaneous sessions each). We are very excited about this updated option. With the introduction of this new bundle, new customers will no longer have access to the $325 per session legacy pricing.

What does this mean to existing ScreenConnect customers? New options, and no planned pricing change.

You can continue to purchase additional session licenses and upgrades based on the legacy pricing schedule by using your ScreenConnect server. Please select the โ€œAdd or Upgrade Licensesโ€ link on the License tab of your Administration page, and check out our FAQ for more details. Our team is available to assist you with any questions. Reach out to [email protected] at any time.

As a product, we are evolving to provide the best ScreenConnect possible. Over the coming months there will be exciting announcements around new features, services, and much more. I am very appreciative of our current partners and want to thank you for helping make ScreenConnect what it is today.

Isn't Wordpress also one of the most hacked webpage type?

As someone that has been using WordPress for years, and managing more and more sites everyday, I can promise you WordPress is very secure.

The Problem is plugins. People don't take care when installing them and don't keep them up to date.

Or, they set there username and password to admin. ๐Ÿ˜

    • How many Linux servers do I really need?

I have a whole bunch of Linux servers for:

      • OpenVPN
      • LAMP Stack with Nginx Reverse Proxy
      • ScreenConnect
      • Unifi Controller
      • Playing with Let's Encrypt
      • Etc

I was thinking today, do I need these each as there own VM, or could I just use one VM for everything? Pros and Cons?
