Lost $650 due to technicality.

Returned a fake/mis represented item on ebay (was sold as new but didn't have any packaging or serial numbers)
Anyway, I returned it seller asked me to pay for return shipping and he would reimburse. Guess he learned a trick around buyer protection. Apperently the terms of buyer protection only cover you if ebay or the seller pays return shipping. so Ebay can't force a return with me paying. I'm out the cost of the product ($650) plus orginal shipping and return shipping, on a stupid technicality.
Watch out.

What did you use to pay? if Paypal or CC - I would contact them.

As long as you have all conversation in Ebay message and pay with Paypal + tracking info both send/return, then Paypal can help you reimburse the original payment. Your return shipping not included. you will have to be persistent and try to get Paypal to help you out. eBay rarely help much.

eBay protection overrides PayPal protection. You only get one or the other sadly..

Opened a paypal case and closed the ebay..
Then got a message from ebay saying my account is being limited. Oh well I was done with ebay anyway.
