Unitrends Free for XenServer?
-
I was able to import the OVA into XenServer and it seems to be running fine?
Anything I should worry about?
I understand that I will have to use agents and it's "unsupported"
-
If you are using agents, why is it unsupported.
Why do you say "agents", the are really agents, right?
-
@scottalanmiller correct, real agents.
By unsupported I mean that I didn't believe Unitrends would provide support since the appliance is running on XenServer.
-
They would provide support for anything except for actually getting it to work on XenServer, but you have made it past that point already It's CentOS under the hood, so very much ready to run on Xen with full PV driver support in the kernel. I suspect that they would support that as well because they want it to run on XenServer, too. Their concern around support is where you try to deploy the agents, not where you try to deploy the OVA.

@scottalanmiller I see.
Sadly it will not let me add storage to it
I have read the documentation but the button on is missing
Any ideas?
-
Add local storage? Or any storage, anywhere?
-
@scottalanmiller sadly any storage anywhere which seems strange. I want to connect to my NAS via NFS.

What are/were the limitations of free version? I have forgotten.

1TB of storage. I think that's counting amount of protected storage, but it's been long enough I forget for sure.
Edit: Works real well for me here, adding servers and services as I set them up. We've been using crashplan for file level storage for a long time, so I don't have much being pulled in by Unitrends currently.
