MangoCon Is official!

I also know that many people will be looking to share rooms to keep the cost down. Cost for room/night will be $119 (plus taxes).
Keep in mind we will have the run of this hotel. So that includes the restaurant and bar etc.
We might need to setup a gaming server of some sort hmmm.......

Most of our meals will be at the Hotel and let me tell you the food is good. Even the Gluten Free is good! The Chef and I are working on the menu to include lots of Mango goodness There will be some time to explore some awesome places to eat.
There will be of course a trip down the road to Nick Tahou's (sorry due to the amount of people flying in getting to Steve T's would be expensive).
Dinosaur BBQ is walking distance from there. There isn't really anything in Rochester that has better BBQ. Worth the walk from the hotel.

WE hope to have them cater a meal one night. Working on that one.
-
@Minion-Queen Sticky-Lips BBQ is also an AWESOME BBQ joint.

I give Sticky Lips a slight edge on side dishes compared to Dinosaur but I think the meat is better at Dinosaur. Have had dry brisket at Sticky Lips. I've only been to the newer Sticky Lips in Henrietta not the original in the city.

@DustinB3403 I just went in and changed the permissions to "deny Dustin".

Have @dominica do some looking at flights too. She deals with getting flights between NY and Dublin regularly and knows a lot of the tricks to good pricing.
Have you checked AerLingus? We love using them. And you can fly from Shannon, too.
NYC to the Rochester location for the event is an easy train ride.
-
There is free shuttle service from both the airport and train station as well as lots of locals who might be willing to pick people up too!

Best non-stop i can get currently out of O'Hare is $270. Still deciding if I want to drive or fly.
-
@JaredBusch I know a few people are talking about driving.... You might be able to pick up some passengers on your way here

There is a train for you too, direct. But it is long.

I will never take Amtrak anywhere that I want to get to on a schedule.

Yes they are horrible about delays. Drives me nuts.

I dunno if it was this thread or another, but yeah, we had a conversation about that. I could do a 3-4 carpool easy from here.

Is Amtrak bad from NY to Chicago? We are thinking about visiting some my wife's family this summer and she wants to take the train.

If you want to be on a schedule, Amtrak is bad for everywhere outside the NY to DC run.
For vacation, it could be easily doable if you are not in a hurry. -

The stretch through Albany is terrible, delays of 2-6 hours are standard. Chicago to Rochester, i thought, was pretty reliable, but have not taken it. For a vacation it is perfectly fine, your schedule is your own. I would do it too.

Literally nothing. No trains the whole way.
Utica has the best station. My favourite Amtrak station anywhere. I use it all of the time. It's grand. nothing like the boring box in Rochester.
