Who Has Gravatar Issues
-
Does not appear to be working here, yet. I did a refresh and got nothing.
-
@scottalanmiller Yeah changed email, changed back, re-uploaded photo, but it doesn't seem to be sticking.
-
Does the browser matter? Should I try it on something besides Chrome?
-
Browser should not matter.
-
@scottalanmiller I have default one (which kind of sucks). If you can fix one for me I'd appreciate it

If I check your email address here: https://en.gravatar.com/site/check
You have none set.

You right! Updated...
P.S. I was not happy to give away e-mail and did not realize it's going to be a) hash and b) it's required action actually

Just switch email addresses to one just for this.

Ok now that I actually logged into Gravatar and set everything up, it's working well. The issue still remains that if you don't use the Gravatar system, it won't let you select a manually uploaded profile on ML itself.

Not an issue, that's by design.
-
I'm not sure WHY it is by design, but it is not a bug but a decision from the NodeBB team.

Gotcha - that was lost on me, so maybe that option should be removed from the profile, and some instructions given for how to setup the Gravatar itself.
-
Yeah, not sure why the interface for something that isn't there remains.
-
I disagree that it is a decision by the NodeBB team. It was their decision to break Gravatar off into a plugin yes.
But it is your decision to not allow local avatars. The setting is there to use both gravatar and local if desired.

This part is true though, if you have the gravatar plugin set to force, it should remove this from the profile page.

We tried both it did not work, did it work for you? We tested allowing it and it was gone.
-
Works just fine for me. I have switched mine back and forth a couple times testing on my game site.
-
PRIOR to moving to forced Gravatars we had allowed both and then moved to being Gravatar only. This allowed people to keep the local ones used previously. After going to the Gravatar plugin, the local ones were removed no matter what setting in the plugin was used. We did attempt to allow at least the existing ones to stay, but they did not. This was discussed with the NodeBB team as well. We didn't "just assume" or anything. So I stand by that we did not make the decision because we attempted to not do so when we had to go to the plugin.

Weird, on here they just vanished. We reported it but we did say that the priority was not high as we were happy that Gravatar would be forced for bandwidth and performance reasons. We don't want to be serving images. But we had been doing so and were going to continue doing so until it was no longer available.
