Windows 10 Notification Issues with ClipMate
-
Every time that I turn off notifications for ClipMate, they keep coming back. When I look under System > Notifications & actions, I see that there are multiple entries for this app:
Anyone ever run into this issue? Suggestions on how to fix / prevent this from reoccurring? -
Turn the Notificaction for clipmate 7 back on, turn all the others off, and then turn Clipmate 7 off?
-
I would think this is a problem with clipmate not supporting windows 10 rather than windows 10 itself. Have you contacted them?

While you may be correct, my initial thought is that this would be a Windows issue since it is the one that maintains these entries.

Maybe ClipMate acts maliciously with the running credentials and modifies your preferences without your permission.

Again, while anything is possible, I've been trying to approach this as more of a general WIndows issue. I've searched online and found a couple of similar inquiries. Here's one example: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-start/multiple-listings-of-same-item-under-show/54865402-c44e-4819-ba67-c90ae536d41b

Well, it's possible that it is a Windows issue, certainly. But that it only happens with ClipMate suggests that it is not. If you approach it with the solution already decided, especially when that solution appears to be the less likely of the two, it will be very hard to determine which is actually at fault.
I'm unclear as to anything pointing to it being a Windows issue. Why do you feel that this is possible or likely?

There does not seem to be any trend with this issue. Just one user, in a quick search, reporting the issue. And there was no answer in that case.
-
I wonder if it could be something like:
- Misbehaving app (seems unlikely if Defrag is doing this)
- Something being registered repeatedly for some reason
- Malware masquerading with these names to hide itself.
-
Agreed. I'll contact the vendor and see if they've had any other reports of this issue.
-
Finally got around to emailing their tech support. I'll post an update when they get back to me.

This is the response that I received:
Windows is not honoring your request. Sometimes it treats different text in the caption as a new app. Counter that by setting the systray hint to be the collection title instead of the clip title.
I made that change in the software's settings. Now I'm wondering how to remove all the excess Notification entries as shown in the OP.

FWIW, I've found some additional instances of this issue by searching Google with "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PushNotifications\AppDB"
