Skarp laser razor

I read this elsewhere but it seems like the most probable answer to all this is that they're looking for VC funding and need a prototype. To get the prototype they need a ton of cash. Enter suckers on crowd funding. They may even have good intentions of following through in a few years if they ever make it to market.

That may be. With the advancements in laser technology, fiber optics and such, there should be a spectrum that would work. The 'metal blade' has been a focus of Science Fiction and tech heads for a long while. If we are going for a laser scalpel, why not the razor.

Aye, and the razor is far more probable at this point than the mini laser sword

Surely you jest - while it's a lightsaber, lasers are used all time in surgery today, duration and intensity set how deep the incision is.

@Dashrender Hand held scalpel replacements was what I was referring to

They are mighty close. About 6 years ago, my wife had some dental work done. The dentist used a laser to actually cut some of the skin in her mouth away. I could see a lazer razor being a reality. The trick will be making it strong enough to cut the hair while not melting away my face.

The devices my docs use are hand held, just not wireless. They get power from a box/the wall.

@dafyre @Dashrender Well shit, I may be out of date - thank you both
-
@MattSpeller I question whether or not they have a working prototype... but I think it is doable... If I had money, I'd invest... I hate having to shave, lol.
-
@dafyre I disagree strongly that it's a feasible project the way they have it designed / described currently.
Totally amazing concept though
-
Believe it when i see it working but if it does I'll be willing to part with the money

I tend to agree with this.
I'm really more wondering, how do they get the photons to leave the edge of the fiber strip instead of the end/tip? like a laser?
