Belkin Thunderbolt to HDMI Adapter for Mac Not Working
-
Do you need to choose the HDMI option on the TV to get to recognize the laptop?

I have the Apple VGA and DVI adapters and have never had a problem. I have not purchased a HDMI adapter at this point. Sorry to not be of help.
Those have worked fine for me too. Sadly can't find an Apple adapter in this country. No Apple Stores in Panama or even Central America. And if you ask around, since they don't exist, there are several local businesses that work hard to look like an Apple store and the locals aren't aware that these are not the real deal.
The Belkin adapter was the only name brand that I could find.

Yes, and that's when it says that the input is invalid.

Order from the intertubes? I'm sure you can get a quick shipping option so it finds you where ever your jet setting self happens to be haha.

Ever tried getting Amazon to deliver to Panama? I've had people try to get $20 of stuff shipped to another country and ended up spending closer to a $1,000 to actually get it by the time that all was said and done. If you lived here full time it would be different. Only being here a few weeks, you never try those stunts.

Yeah when traveling outside of the US/Canada do not try to ship things. It's just a huge mess.

Especially if you are not there for a really, really long time.

Yeah we were in Congo for a year. 3 1/2 years later a package someone sent is arrived

In the DoubleTree in Panama City and tried the adapter with the LG TV there and it worked beautifully the instant that I plugged it in. So maybe the television is part of the problem. But the issues with the needed options not being available is definitely on the Mac where the needed interfaces are completely absent.

Of course, the Mac crashed completely only a few minutes into trying to use this on the LG. Probably unrelated, it crashed three times in the last two hours, only once while attached to the TV.
