I have difficulty finding time to read. If I had time I would like to read the Codex Alera books again. It seems the only time I have is driving to and from work. I wonder if they have audio books???

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

About 200 pages into Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Still on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Getting close to the end, though.

Thinking about what to read to the kids after this. Luciana has requested The Lord of the Rings but I don't think that they would be engaged enough for it. I'm thinking Dragons of Autumn Twilight would be a good one to start them on.

Neil Gaiman - Norse Mythology

If you want a fantasy series, the dragon lance saga is a good classic style.
If you want something with more female role models, look at the Pern series from Anne McCaffrey.

@jaredbusch Have you read any of L Ron Hubbard's books? A friend of mine was explaining how great he was as a science fiction author (if you just ignore Scientology). I was considering picking up some of his works to see what the deal was

Yes, and he's not.

Because he is pushing Scientology on you of course.
-
@jaredbusch Lol. Definitely not. He's Jewish and sort of a part of my family. I've known him since I was 3 year old.

Bad taste in Sci-Fi? Hubbard started writing when Sci-fi was basically "write anything in the genre and everyone will buy it". I won't tell you not to read stuff by him. It's good foundational stuff to understand where the genre was and how far it has come (or not come). Just that he wasn't a great writer and even of his contemporaries he wasn't that good.

the deal is he's a cult leader. What more do you need to know?

Really enjoying "Ready Player One" I wanted to get it read before the movie comes out. Now that I am in it, that won't be a problem.

L. Ron Hubbard is a failed sci-fi writer who had to found a cult to get people to keep reading his books. And if your friend is actually not trying to rope you into scientology, he has terrible taste. But he's probably trying to rope you into scientology...

Trust me that is most definitely not the case. I wouldn't be surprised if he just has bad taste in science fiction books.

Never attribute to bad taste what can be attributed to being in a cult.
