Verizon Fiber Box, Why so big?
-
We have our Fiber Demarc in our main DC which verizon has put a box which is like the normal outdoor cabinets:
Has anyone seen Verizon do this before? I mean it's not a big deal we have a large amount of space but it takes up as much floor space as one rack does (not as high though). It has 1 tiny box inside of it that the fiber's are connected to.
I'm used to seeing something like this:
My boss and I are both thinking we just got stuck with leftovers from a project or something that no one else would take.

More room for spiders.

wow, are you paying for the space?

Luckily we don't have any access switches in the DC, just core switches otherwise we would not have room for it. They put it in the space behind the row of core switch racks.

No, it's in our Datacenter.
So you are, but it's not currently costing you extra. The moment you could use that space for your own business generating equipment they suddenly start costing you money!

There's planned room for expansion if needed. our DC is pretty huge as it is. More likely we'd need less space as we move from on site exchange to office 365 and such.
