Galápagos Islands: Researchers Identify New Giant Tortoise Species on Volcanic Archipelago
Researchers discovered that two populations of giant tortoises on the Santa Cruz island belong to different species. Tortoises in both populations were previously believed to be Chelonoidis porteri.

Blue Spring State Park: 61-Year-Old Found Dead in Florida Waters Was Killed by Alligator, Examiner Says
James Okkerse's body was pulled from the park's swimming area on Monday with bite marks, police said. A medical examiner confirmed Wednesday that his death was caused by an alligator attack.

Cedar Park, Texas: Police Officers Give Man Car Seats Instead of Tickets
Officer Justin Gower pulled over a truck on Oct. 17 for a malfunctioning light when he saw three kids with no car seats. Gower and another officer then purchased the family seats with their own money.
Isn't this the town that @andyw lives in? What a cool story to get in the news. So much of what you see is so depressing. Had to share this one.

Henrico County, Virginia: Student Says She Faces Assault Charges for Throwing Baby Carrot at Teacher
Disciplinary documents from Moody Middle School say the 14-year-old student used the baby carrot as a weapon. The student said she never meant to hit the teacher in the forehead.
