looking to make the move

So I'm looking to make a move from just a generalist to specializing in Linux Administration. (I'm sure I'll have to do other stuff to, but just focus on that.) Should I look at any certification options? Or just keep doing practical learning and building of systems?

The big cert that can help is the RHCE. I've seen people use it to jump start their careers, but in reality, there are so many Linux job openings out there that getting into them sans certification is really not a problem. Get the skills together and you won't have issues finding work.

How hard do you consider the RHCE to be? and what are some good resources for it?

An RHCE is capable of RHCSA tasks plus the following:
Configuring static routes, packet filtering, and network address translation
Setting kernel runtime parameters
Configuring an Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) initiator
Producing and delivering reports on system utilization
Using shell scripting to automate system maintenance tasks
Configuring system logging, including remote logging
Configuring a system to provide networking services, including HTTP/HTTPS, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), network file system (NFS), server message block (SMB), Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), secure shell (SSH) and Network Time Protocol (NTP) -
I've been looking at the LFCS and LFCE certs, although I'm not sure how much weight they have on the resume. http://training.linuxfoundation.org/certification

I feel like that's got as about as much weight as a A+. But if it's cheap I might still look into it.

Pretty hard. Very few people get it. Although traditional part of what made it hard is A+ type crap where they ask tons of questions about things no actual system admin would ever do because they are silly, junior tasks like managing printers on a desktop. So the cert is somewhat shamed because of that.
