      Kind of a light topic but I guess I have a little OCD when it comes to leaving things on at home...like running the washer/dryer (will the dryer not turn off???) why we are out...dishwasher...leaving stuff plugged in when on a long vacation...looks like I am "cured" of that since finally leaving on my "data center" after a recent reconfiguring of it. I leave my main PC (Lenovo ThinkServer for media serving), 2 Western Digital 2-Drive NAS units (though they do ":sleep", and my 4 Drive Seagate Business Storage running 24/7. That was a big step for me. LOL. And it is nice as I can access Plex anywhere I am.

      Just wondering if anyone else had the same trepidations about leaving stuff running while gone.

        If no one is visiting my home while I'm gone I like to turn the water off at the main valve, beyond that I don't worry about much.

        As for your home DC stuff - if you plan to use it while on vacation, you have little choice but to leave it on.

          I've had an "always on" home datacenter since at least 2003.

            I can't imagine turning any of the office things off or the datacenter anything off. I access via my phone and tablet when traveling etc.

              My wife has been so happy that I've let a lot of these quirks go...for a while our dyer would sit on "1 munute" for almost another hour...but I fixed that with a new heating element...and yes, replaced it myself via some good youtube videos...wonder how much more fun that would have been with the Microsoft HoloLens? 🙂

              Oh, and I just purchased a new desktop and it will be my do all server: Media/Stream Steam Games/Plex Server...I normally build a system but this was a good deal and I sue several of these at work and they work great:

              Now, will my quirk prevent me from leaving this one because it has a hot running GPU...LOL (kidding!)
