Netflix Goes After Game of Thrones with New Show
-
So I just finished Season 1 of Marco Polo on Netflix and WOW! Great acting. Great story! Good twists and just a really solid story! Less confusing than Game of Thrones. It's interesting how Netflix is directly attacking HBO with this one. Very interesting indeed.

hmm.. That really seems unnecessary. Why create more content only for the same crowd? Though, the good thing, they don't directly compete because one is a watch at a specific day/time (or anytime on demand anytime after that) and the other is watch anytime you want after it's published.
Was Netflix's show all published at once?
I didn't pay attention when House of Cards season one was released, but I do recall season 2 was all dumped in at the same time (which is awesome by the way, both the show and you could binge watch it).

All Netflix Original shows are done this way. Dropped in at once. Probably one of the best things about it for people who binge watch.

Hard to see this as "attacking HBO." Netflix just made a show set in the middle ages. How is that a direct attack on HBO?

This was my question - I'm guessing it's possibly seen as attempting to steal viewers, but as I mentioned it really won't steal viewers since they are watchable easily at different times.
This isn't anything like the Stargate SG1 vs Firefly debacle (which Fox lost on tremendously, which is to bad because Firefly had the potential to be a huge show)

If you watch the show Marco Polo, there are many similarities between the two shows, besides just the fact they are set in the middle ages.

I was a die hard SG1 fan - I wasn't going to not watch a show I loved to try a new show that was on at the same time (stupid Fox), which is, I'm sure, why it failed.
Firefly was so popular it spun to a theatrical movie - While it's short stink on TV might have spurred some additional appreciation it might not otherwise have gained, I'm willing to bet it would have made at least 3 seasons on Fox had they not put it in the same time slot as SG1
