HP 48GX Calculator On Windows 8
-
I've got a draftsman who is clinging to his HP 48GX calculator...he is trying to load some circa 94 era software on the calculator and while we do have the calculator connected via the USB to parallel cable, the software to install on the calculator won't run on Windows 8, even in various compatible modes...I couldn't believe it showed 94 as the age of the EXE files but I still tried to help. I just don't see anyway of helping him. He said his friend who sent him the software can do it from his place if he mails it to him so guessing that is the best option...
Talk about legacy!

At some point a 20 year old calculator is just not useful anymore.
I actually have that calculator. I had it from the days before I was using Windows at all!! That's from the Windows 3 era. I was using exclusively Solaris desktops at that time!!

I told him I'd check around...I did...confirmed what I already knew...time to give it up man!

I have not seen one of those calculators in forever. That's the type with reverse Polish notation!

Have you looked into using an emulator so that the calculator runs on Windows rather than needing to attach to it?
